NBA Analyst Offers Optimism On New In-Season Tournament

Image
For months, there have been rumors and reports that the NBA may add an in-season tournament to its regular season schedule. On Saturday, it became official, as Commissioner Adam Silver unveiled the tournament structure and how it would work during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Still, many people are skeptical that NBA players and fans will care about the games that comprise the tournament more than they already care about regular season games. But analyst Keith Smith urged fans to give it a chance. Seems to be a rush to dump on the NBA Cup. I don’t get it. Just give it a chance. The NBA hasn’t missed very often with stuff like this. The NBA Cup will probably end up being really fun too. At worst, we get a few extra games between good teams or teams going hard early-season. — Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) July 9, 2023 The reasoning behind implementing this in-season tournament seems to be to create some excitement during the regular season and give players an in...

Stats Show How Brook Lopez Made NBA History Last Season

Image
(Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images)   The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t have the postseason they wanted but they definitely had a regular season to be proud of. They ended the year with a 58-24 record, which was the best for the entire league. Milwaukee clearly had one impressive year and a huge part of their success was the hard work of big man Brook Lopez. For the season, Lopez averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks a game. That led to him being part of the First Team All-Defense. According to StatMuse, it also makes him the first player in league history to record 125+ blocks and 125+ three-pointers in multiple seasons. Fans Are Remembering A Moment In Mike Tysons Career Today

Image
(Photo by Francois Nel/Getty Images)   There are few people in sports who are more widely recognized than Mike Tyson. Often deemed as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, he’s also made a name for himself for several bizarre incidents. We’re not talking about his cameos in “The Hangover” series or even him getting a huge tribal tattoo on his face, but rather about his iconic — and now infamous — bout with Evander Holyfield. Notably, today marks the 26th anniversary of that legendary fight between these two legends, when Tyson bit Holyfield’s ear off. Holyfield was obviously declared the winner upon Tyson’s disqualification, and the fans took to Twitter to reminisce about that legendary bout almost three decades later. Holyfield beat him twice, yes. But he's still in everyone's top 5. — Clarence Beeks, Jr. (@ClarenceBeeksJr) June 28, 2023 This is hilarious — Smart Gadgets (@smartgadgetsg) June 28, 2023 Well this makes me feel old — Scott Jacobse...

The Knicks Have Made A Decision About Derrick Roses Future (Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images)   The New York Knicks are a solid playoff team right now. To be a championship contender, they need to add more talent to the roster after reaching the second round of the 2023 NBA playoffs. The Knicks have some decisions to make this offseason, and they already started by parting ways with one of their best veterans. They had a team option on Derrick Rose’s contract for next year which won’t be exercised, according to Steve Popper of Newsday Sports. Knicks will not exercise option on Derrick Rose's contract. Rose was beloved by Thibs and the organization, had a diminished role on the court but was a pro throughout his benching, a voice in the locker room, and this will give him a chance to explore available opportunities. — Steve Popper (@StevePopper) June 24, 2023 Rose didn’t have many minutes of action with the Knicks this past season, going from 24.5 minutes per game las...

PFF predicts Nick Bosa extension, ranks out 49ers' wide

Image
The San Francisco 49ers have most of their roster already locked in for the future. They’ve even found a quarterback for years to come in Brock Purdy, although it’s more than evident that this team’s biggest strength comes from the defensive side of the field. With that in mind, locking up Nick Bosa should be at the top of their priority list, even if that means spending some big bucks. According to PFF, Bosa is set to reset the market for pass rushers, making as much as $33.5 million a year through five years for a grand total of $176.5 million. Nick Bosa's projected next contract pic.twitter.com/hooVdG9MHX — PFF (@PFF) June 23, 2023 Bosa, HC Kyle Shanahan, and GM John Lynch have repeatedly expressed their confidence in getting a deal done without much drama. The star pass rusher knows that the business part of the deal will get out of the way in no time and figure itself out, citing that he knows he’s going to get the kind of money he deserves. Tom Brady Shows Off Shredded Physique In Latest Retirement Photo

Image
It’s been a awhile since we last saw Tom Brady doing his thing in the National Football League. The seven-time Super Bowl champion announced his retirement shortly after the end of the season, this time for good. But that hasn’t stopped him from staying in shape, and judging by a recent picture; it seems like he could just pad up and get back on the gridiron again tomorrow if need be. TMZ shared a picture of No. 12 looking shredded on a yacht in Greece, and it seems like it hasn’t been a day since he walked away from the game. Brady recently admitted that he’s definitely had a few more tequilas than he usually does, but he cited that he still t...

Analyst Believes That Chris Paul Will Not Stay With Warriors

Image
(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)   The Golden State Warriors shocked the world by trading Jordan Poole just hours after their new GM, Mike Dunleavy Jr., claimed that they wanted him around for the long run. But more than that, the fact that they traded him for one of their biggest foes only made it even more bizarre. Notably, however, Tim Hardaway Sr. is confident that Chris Paul won’t play for the Warriors, or at least he won’t stay there for long. . @HardawaySr doesn't think CP3 will stay with the Warriors "It's going to be another trade, Chris Paul probably won't play in a Golden State uniform." pic.twitter.com/prDOM43Shy — The Carton Show (@TheCartonShow) June 23, 2023 Hardaway thinks they just wanted to get rid of Poole and his contract and will now look to flip Paul for more assets, either wings or younger players. Truth be told, having Paul backing up Stephen Curry sounds like a coach’s dream, at least on paper. And even though Paul...

Analyst Makes A Bold Claim About Draymond Greens Future

Image
The Golden State Warriors were all over the news this week after the Jordan Poole trade. They acquired Chris Paul in one of the most bizarre transactions of the past couple of years, just hours after Mike Dunleavy Jr. claimed that they wanted to keep Poole for the next four years at least. But that’s not even the biggest issue with the Warriors right now, as there’s still Draymond Green’s contract situation. However, former NBA player Tim Hardaway Sr. doesn’t want Dub Nation to sweat it or get worried about this, and he confirmed that a good source of his told him that Green is going to re-sign with the team. "I have a pretty good source that tells me Draymond Green will be signing back with the Warriors." — @HardawaySr pic.twitter.com/CnuFEXWpif — The Carton Show (@TheCartonShow) June 23, 2023 Truth be told, it wasn’t shocking to see that Green decided to opt out of the final year of his contract. That was never about testing free agency or sending a messag...

Jay Williams Makes A Bold Statement About Celtics After Kristaps Porzingis Trade

Image
(Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)   The Boston Celtics may have gotten a lot better on paper with the acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis. But giving up Marcus Smart was a steep price to pay to get the Latvian big man in Boston. However, as tough as things could get for Joe Mazzulla’s team going forward, NBA analyst Jay Williams believes that the Celtics are now officially the best team in the Eastern Conference. Williams cites that the Milwaukee Bucks and every other team in the conference cannot rest on their laurels anymore, and they’ll have to try and make some moves to counter this acquisition. . @RealJayWilliams believes Porzingis makes the Celtics the best team in the East pic.twitter.com/VAHYNGZPPr — First Take (@FirstTake) June 22, 2023 He also said that Joe Mazzulla and Brad Stevens need to make sure that Porzingis gets to work out with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the offseason, citing that they need to get on the same page to be able to defer to each...

Stephen A. Smith Reveals His Thoughts About Victor Wembanyama

Image
(Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)   The San Antonio Spurs are just hours away from getting Victor Wembanyama, who’s got the potential to be one of the greatest players in the history of professional basketball. However, as unique and mesmerizing as his skills are, Stephen A. Smith is through with him already. That’s why he recently claimed that he’s thankful about the fact that the NBA Draft will be over already, so people will finally stop talking and raving about him, as it’ll be time for him to actually prove himself. Smith says that even though he doesn’t think or suspect that Wembanyama will be a bust or a scrub, he’s worried about his thin frame when going against NBA competition and the “big boys.” I’m ready for Victor Wembanyama to prove himself pic.twitter.com/6Yr1H0GXQu — Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) June 22, 2023 He says he reminds him of the likes of Shawn Bradley or Manute Bol, citing that Kevin Durant has been the lone exception to that group of lan...

Another Yankees Veteran Is Headed To The Injured List

Image
(Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images)   It seems like when the New York Yankees recover a player from the injured list, two more get hurt. It has been that way the entire season, unfortunately, for them. The team, which already has superstar Aaron Judge on the shelf, has lost another outfielder to injury. “Willie Calhoun (quadriceps) expects to go on the IL. Said he had a similar injury a few years back, needed a PRP injection and missed 3-4 weeks,” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted. Willie Calhoun (quadriceps) expects to go on the IL.
