To be a championship contender, they need to add more talent to the roster after reaching the second round of the 2023 NBA playoffs.
The Knicks have some decisions to make this offseason, and they already started by parting ways with one of their best veterans.
They had a team option on Derrick Rose’s contract for next year which won’t be exercised, according to Steve Popper of Newsday Sports.
Knicks will not exercise option on Derrick Rose's contract. Rose was beloved by Thibs and the organization, had a diminished role on the court but was a pro throughout his benching, a voice in the locker room, and this will give him a chance to explore available opportunities.

Interim head coach Thomas Brown hasn’t won a game, leading most to believe there is little chance he gets any consideration to be the permanent replacement. With that in mind, the Bears reportedly are looking into other possible candidates. “The Bears are looking for a ‘leader of men’ for their opening at HC, and GM Ryan Poles has been doing ‘serious homework’ on [Miami] Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver, per Dianna Russini,” JPAFootball wrote on X. According to Polymarket, the Lakers have an eight percent shot of going to the Finals. Even with some smart acquisitions and Luka Doncic starting his first full season with the team, the Lakers still have their work cut out for them. With Josh Jacobs out with a knee injury, someone would have to step up to lead the way against the Minnesota Vikings. Fortunately for them, backup RB Emanuel Wilson was more than up to the task. That’s why, after his strong performance, it’s not much of a surprise to see him being nominated for the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week: “Packers RB Emanuel Wilson (125 total yards, 2 TDs) is a nominee for the FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Week award in Week 12,” Kruse posted on X. #Packers RB Emanuel Wilson (125 total yards, 2 TDs) is a nominee for the FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Week award in Week 12. — Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) November 24, 2025 Wilson was shifty and explosive out of the backfield. He forced missed tackles left and right, and he was a factor with his pass blocking and reliable hands in the passing game as well. It was a much-welcome per...
