To be a championship contender, they need to add more talent to the roster after reaching the second round of the 2023 NBA playoffs.
The Knicks have some decisions to make this offseason, and they already started by parting ways with one of their best veterans.
They had a team option on Derrick Rose’s contract for next year which won’t be exercised, according to Steve Popper of Newsday Sports.
Knicks will not exercise option on Derrick Rose's contract. Rose was beloved by Thibs and the organization, had a diminished role on the court but was a pro throughout his benching, a voice in the locker room, and this will give him a chance to explore available opportunities.

Following that victory, Curry spoke with the press, via Oh No He Didn’t and Hoop Central, and was asked about his performances in Houston over the years. “I’m a winner,” Curry simply said, followed by a sly smile. He posted 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists as his Warriors took a 103-89 lead over the Rockets. This was a long series and one that had Warriors fans nervous at every turn. There were fears they’d give up their series lead and eventually fall to the Rockets, which wouldn’t be too surprising considering Golden State was the seventh seed and Houston was the seco...
(Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) The Chicago Bears are in need of some big changes after squandering a solid start to the 2024 NFL season, leading to the firing of head coach Matt Eberflus, the first time in franchise history they made a coaching change during a season. Interim head coach Thomas Brown hasn’t won a game, leading most to believe there is little chance he gets any consideration to be the permanent replacement. With that in mind, the Bears reportedly are looking into other possible candidates. “The Bears are looking for a ‘leader of men’ for their opening at HC, and GM Ryan Poles has been doing ‘serious homework’ on [Miami] Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver, per Dianna Russini,” JPAFootball wrote on X. (Photo by Tim Heitman/Getty Images) Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani will hit the free-agent market after the World Series. It means he will be free to negotiate and sign with any team of his liking. For now, he is focused on closing out the 2023 campaign as well as he can. The dream, of course, would be making it into the postseason, but with the team at 61-64 and so many games behind the last Wild Card spot, it’s unlikely, even unrealistic at this point. Fellow Angels star Mike Trout referred to the Ohtani situation and his potential future. According to B/R Walk-Off, Trout is optimistic about the Angels retaining his teammate and friend. We might have some bad news for Trout. Ohtani has made it clear in interviews and with his body langua...
