Mike Zimmer Has Honest Admission About Being Fired By Vikings

Image
(Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)   Before his stint with the Minnesota Vikings, HC Mike Zimmer could brag about something quite rare in the NFL industry: He had never been fired. Like all coaches, he climbed his way up the ladder by serving in several positions, eventually being the main guy in the Twin Cities. He was there for eight seasons until, eventually, after back-to-back subpar seasons, he was shown the door. Now, years later and after finding his way back to the league, Zimmer admitted in an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune that he was so angry and crushed about being fired that he didn’t even want to address the team when he heard the news: “Zimmer was crushed. Angry. Sleep-deprived. The rare coaching lifer who had never been fired,” Mark Craig wrote . “They asked me if I wanted to address the team,” he says. “And I said, ‘Hell, no. They got me fired!’ Zimmer said . Zimmer left the team with a 72–55–1 (.556) record. Overall, the numbers were q...

Mark Cuban Reveals Why He Sold The Mavericks

Image
(Photo by Quinn Harris/Getty Images)   Mark Cuban made a lasting impression in the NBA. While his tenure in charge of the Dallas Mavericks wasn’t always perfect, he certainly took major steps in turning them into a world-class organization. Cuban made sure to give his players a state-of-the-art facility and some perks no other teams have even considered at the moment, raising the bar for other owners in the league. Now, after 24 years as their majority owner, he’s ready to step aside. In a recent appearance on Jalen Brunson’s and Josh Hart’s Roommates Show, the business mogul explained why he sold his majority stake. He started off by stating that he didn’t want to put his children in a position in which they felt obliged to take the reins of the team. He believes they must figure out what they want to do once they get out of school, and that kind of burden is too much to put on their shoulders. More than that, he also believes that the NBA ownership landscape has chang...

Brady Quinn Has Concerns About Colorado After First Win

Image
(Photo by Andrew Wevers/Getty Images)   The Colorado Buffaloes opened their season on Thursday night with a 31-26 victory over North Dakota State as quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter showed why there is so much Heisman Trophy hype around them both. Former quarterback Brady Quinn had some concerns about the performance even though Colorado was able to escape with a victory. Quinn appeared on Fox Sports Radio Friday morning to do his show 2 Pros & A Cup Of Joe and mentioned how many of the concerns Colorado had last year are still the same, saying “What the hell were they doing throwing on first and 10?” towards the end of the game when they had the chance to kneel the clock out, adding “That’s the sort of thing that maybe North Dakota State won’t beat you, someone will beat you if you give them another opportunity like that.” @Brady_Quinn , @TheJonasKnox & @LaVarArrington react to Colorado vs. North Dakota State and discuss how ...

Analyst Calls NFL Owner ‘Delusional’ Over QB Contract Negotiations

Image
(Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire)   After inking All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a major four-year extension recently, the Cowboys now face the prospect of trying to agree to terms on a long-term extension with Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott. The former Mississippi State star is entering a contract year and with Dallas’s season opener just over a week away, GM Jerry Jones is running out of time to get something done with his franchise signal-caller. Former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Harry Douglas went after Jerry Jones today on Get Up for the way he has gone about trying to sign his key players. “Jerry’s delusional…All it takes is one team to give Dak Prescott everything that he’s asking for for him to be gone,” Douglas said. . @hdouglas83 didn’t hold back on Jerry Jones “All it takes is one team to give Dak Prescott everything that he’s asking for for him to be gone. 3 NBA Players Have Now Surpassed $500 M+ In Career Earnings

Image
(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   On Thursday morning, it was announced that Stephen Curry had signed a new one-year, $62.6 million extension with the Golden State Warriors. That will keep Curry with the Warriors through the 2026-27 season and add quite a lot of money to his bank account. In fact, according to Bobby Marks, Curry now passed $500 million in career earnings, joining only LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Marks added that Curry might have been worth even more but because of the Over 38 rule, the one-year extension is the maximum that Golden State could offer. Jets Are Signing Former Vikings Safety

Image
(Photo by Luke Hales/Getty Images)   The New York Jets are adding some help at safety as they look toward the start of their quest for a possible Lombardi Trophy. According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the Jets are signing former Minnesota Vikings safety Lewis Cine. A first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft (No. 32 overall), the national champion at Georgia is still just 24 years old and will be looking to make an impact on his new team. Despite playing in just 10 regular season games over his first two years in the league, Cine has a lot of good qualities that were attractive to the Jets. His speed in the 40-yard dash (4.37 seconds) and his height (6-foot-2) should allow him to be an extremely versatile ...

Adam Sandler Reveals His Honest Thoughts About Jayson Tatum

Image
(Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)   Over the last few months, many NBA fans have talked about Jayson Tatum and his impact on the Boston Celtics. One of the fans who has watched Tatum closely is none other than Hollywood superstar Adam Sandler. While appearing on “The Bill Simmons Show,” per Daniel Donabedian, Sandler showed his vast respect for Tatum and even talked about his lack of scoring recently. “The reason his buddy was scoring a lot was because everybody was afraid of Tatum … [He’s] one of the coolest, greatest dudes,” Sandler said.  New England native Adam Sandler showed Jayson Tatum and the Celtics plenty of love on “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” “He loved [JB] scoring. Kevin Garnett Has A Surprising Ranking For Giannis Antetokounmpo

Image
(Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)   The NBA is a short-memory league, and everybody is quick to forget. Just three years ago, Giannis Antetokounmpo was locking up a championship by playing on both ends of the floor, swatting shots, and scoring 50 in the NBA Finals. Now, Kevin Garnett doesn’t seem to be so high on him anymore. Talking on his show with Paul Pierce, the legendary power forward doesn’t think of Giannis as a top-three player in the Eastern Conference (via All The Smoke Productions & ClutchPoints). Paul Pierce: “Is Giannis the best player in the East?” Kevin Garnett: “You can’t say that with [Joel] Embiid over there, and with Jayson Tatum over there… He’s probably like the 4th best player in the East?” Agree or disagree? Domantas Sabonis Sends Warning About Kings This Season

Image
(Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)   The Sacramento Kings are going to look very different next season. Some analysts are worried about that not being a good thing, but they seem to be quite confident about that. When asked about DeMar DeRozan’s addition to their offense, Domantas Sabonis sounded very excited. Talking to the media, Sabonis claimed that it’s going to force opposing teams to defend them differently, adding that it will now be much more difficult to guard them (Via Matt George). Ja’Marr Chase Makes Big Move Amid Contract Dispute

Image
(Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)   The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to be in the inner circle of Super Bowl contention during the 2024 NFL season as they’ve got a healthy Joe Burrow back in the mix. Burrow missed the second half of the 2023 NFL season due to a wrist injury, but is back and looks ready to go for a big regular season and potential playoff run. The offense with Burrow is night and day compared to when the backups are running the show and Cincinnati should be able to put up points in a hurry. However, one looming question before the season starts is the status of Ja’Marr Chase’s contract. Chase is eligible for an extension but the two sides have yet to make any sort of progress towards an agreement. Although Chase has been holding in during training camp and practices, he decided to participate in a recent practice despite not having a new deal in place via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. “Photographic proof of Ja’Marr Chase’s return to practice today,...

Sauce Gardner Shows Off New Home Golf Simulator

Image
(Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images)   As many other professional athletes do, New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner caught the golf bug this summer and has quickly become obsessed with the game. He played for the first time in April of 2023 at a Cincinnati alumni tournament, and his obsession developed quickly from there and recently culminated in a purchase that makes every golfer envious. Gardner shared a photo of his new golf simulator on X and captioned it with, “This might be my best investment.” This might be my best investment pic.twitter.com/r3usmxxjtg — SAUCE GARDNER (@iamSauceGardner) August 23, 2024 When you’re on a $38.7 million fully guaranteed contract, it’s actually irresponsible not to have a golf simulator in your house since a decent one won’t set you back more than a few thousand dollars, but Sauce’s setup looks a bit more pricey. Unfortunately due to football, Sauce recently had to say goodbye to golf temporarily while he focuses on this upcoming ...

Bears, Seahawks Agree To Trade For Linebacker

Image
(Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)   At the end of the preseason, it is not that uncommon to see trades happen around the NFL. Teams are in the process of trying to finalize their rosters around and after the final preseason game. The Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears just recently agreed to terms on a trade. Patriots Believe 1 Player Will Have ‘Really Big Year’

Image
(Photo by Omar Rawlings/Getty Images)   The New England Patriots aren’t expected to have a big year as the franchise is in the midst of a full rebuild and has its sights set on the future with a new coaching staff at the helm and plenty of young talent sprinkled throughout the roster. Even if the Pats aren’t set up to rack up a ton of wins this year, they have some big pieces that they need to see improvement from this year, and the team reportedly believes one key player is ready to make a leap and establish himself as a star. Albert Breer of NBC Sports said the Pats think second-year cornerback Christian Gonzalez is “set up for a really big year” after talking to a handful of people inside the organization, adding “They’ve tried to challenge him in different ways in camp and develop him as a No. 1 corner.” . @AlbertBreer : Patriots think Christian Gonzalez is "set up for a really big year" pic.twitter.com/uCZkQFXWbY — NBC Sports Boston (@NBCSBoston) August 23, 202...

Stephen A. Smith Can’t Believe Dan Orlovsky’s Opinion Of Falcons

Image
(Photo by Cindy Ord/Getty Images for SiriusXM)   For years, it seemed like the Atlanta Falcons had underachieved. They had stacked some promising playmakers on offense with their first-round picks, yet it seemed like Arthur Smith failed to make the most of them. Now, with Raheem Morris in his second stint as a head coach and an improved quarterback situation, Dan Orlovsky believes they could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. In the latest edition of ESPN’s First Take, Orlovsky argued that Kirk Cousins’ addition would be able to take this offense to a whole new level. Stephen A. Russell Wilson Announces His Status For Preseason Finale

(Photo by Justin Berl/Getty Images)   The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are yet to name their starting quarterback, are anxiously keeping a close eye on the battle under center between Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. While Fields has played in every preseason game, Wilson has played in just one of the team’s preseason games because of injury. Now, according to Wilson himself (via insider Brooke Pryor), he will be taking the field against the Detroit Lions in the team’s preseason finale. “We’re playing,” Wilson recently said in front of the Pittsburgh media. “Yeah, we’re all playing. Chet Holmgren Reveals How Isaiah Hartenstein Will Change Thunder

Image
(Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)   The Oklahoma City Thunder were already one of the best teams in the NBA last year but they actually got better in the offseason. The addition of Isaiah Hartenstein in the summer was perhaps their biggest move and Chet Holmgren thinks it’ll greatly help them in 2024-25. Sitting down on the “Podcast P” show, Holmgren said that Isaiah Hartenstein “opens up more possibilities” for himself and the team. This signing will allow him to be more versatile and help the Thunder in some new and impressive ways. Hartenstein left the New York Knicks for the Thunder and New York fans will miss him. Last season, he averaged 7.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Beacuse of their long list of injuries, the Knicks needed Hartenstein more often and he delivered, especially in the playoffs when he was good for an average of 8.5 points and 7.8 rebounds. Hartenstein was celebrated as one of the best big men in the league when the offseason started and the Knicks...

Chris Simms Reveals His ‘Shocker Of The Weekend’ In NFL Preseason

Image
(Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty Images for Bleacher Ball)   The Atlanta Falcons are handling things in a not so usual way with their quarterback situation. First, they overpay to make sure to get Kirk Cousins away from the Minnesota Vikings. Then, they use their No. 8 pick to get Michael Penix Jr. Now, they didn’t even play their first-round rookie in their second preseason game. NFL analyst Chris Simms said that it was the ‘shocker of the weekend,’ and it might be an indication of them being worried about Cousins being ready to take the field in Week 1. Shocker of the weekend: Michael Penix not playing. Are they worried about Kirk Cousins being ready for Week 1? That would be the only reason you wouldn’t play Penix. Sean Payton Reveals When He Knew He Wanted To Draft Bo Nix

Image
(Photo by Emilee Chinn/Getty Images)   The Denver Broncos played chess when the rest of the league was playing checkers. They leaked that they wanted to trade up to get J.J. McCarthy, but it was all a diversion. Apparently, they had always set their sights on Bo Nix instead. It’s still early, and he hasn’t played a single snap of regular-season NFL football, but the early returns from the preseason have been encouraging. With that in mind, Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel asked Sean Payton when he realized that Nix was the right guy for him (Via The Athletic). Payton admitted that it only took 16 throws after their individual workout to know that he had seen more than enough. Sean Payton is enamored with Bo Nix. Tiki Barber’s Old Take On Daniel Jones Is Going Viral Again

Image
(Photo by Ed Mulholland/Getty Images)   The New York Giants are stuck in a tough spot as they could be in line for another rough season during the 2024 NFL campaign. With the NFC East looking more difficult on paper, the Giants are expected to miss another postseason. The biggest question looming for the franchise is what to do with Daniel Jones who is coming off a torn ACL and had a tough first outing in preseason. While Jones is fully healthy, the on-field problems regarding decision-making and accuracy are still a concern as he threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Head coach Brian Daboll did well to get the most out of Jones in their first year together, but it has been downhill since then. It was easy to buy into the Jones hype when he was playing well, but Tiki Barber’s old claim that he would take Jones over Dak Prescott is aging even more poorly via WFAN Sports Radio. Tiki Barber had one of the worst takes of all time, taking Daniel ...

Bo Nix Reveals 1 Valuable Lesson He Learned In College

Image
(Photo by Emilee Chinn/Getty Images)   The Denver Broncos are putting all their hope in their new quarterback. Bo Nix spent plenty of time in college, and while it wasn’t always pretty, he clearly got to learn a thing or two. As quoted by Zac Stevens of DNVR, the talented quarterback learned that he was never going to be at his best if he kept putting that much pressure on himself like he used to do in the past. Bo Nix said early in college he learned The more pressure you put on yourself, the less free you are able to play. Added he’s been playing a lot more free in the recent years — Zac Stevens (@ZacStevensDNVR) August 16, 2024 He believes he’s been playing a lot better since he’s felt more free, and that makes perfect sense. Once he moved to Oregon, he looked happier, fresher, ...

Analyst Says 1 Rookie QB ‘Looks Like A Comfortable Player’

Image
(Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)   All eyes are on the stacked NFL rookie quarterback class this preseason after six of the top 12 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft were used on new franchise QBs, and even though not all of them will start right away, each one has had some impressive moments already. One respected analyst has been particularly impressed with one rookie who he believes already looks comfortable playing at the NFL level. Greg Cosell appeared on “The Ross Tucker Podcast” and praised Atlanta Falcons No. 8 overall pick Michael Penix Jr. “He was just playing the way you are supposed to play the position. … Penix looked like a comfortable player,” Cosell said of the rookie’s first preseason game. “He was just playing the way you are supposed to play the position…Penix looked like a comfortable player…” @GregCosell liked what he saw from the Falcons rookie QB in his first preseason game: pic.twitter.com/ubhnPxnWKc — Ross Tucker Podcast (@RossTuckerPod) August 16, ...

Robert Griffin III Weighs In On Matthew Judon Trade

(Photo by Chris Unger/Getty Images)   The Atlanta Falcons made a recent headline-making decision to trade for four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Matthew Judon. Atlanta sent the New England Patriots a third-round pick in exchange for the veteran. Former Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III recently gave his take via social media on the move by Atlanta to bring in some pass-rushing ammunition. “Matthew Judon is just what the doctor ordered for the Atlanta Falcons,” Griffin wrote. “He had 12+ sacks in two of the last three years and four sacks in four games played last year. … Judon will make them improve in (sacks and interceptions) immediately.” Matthew Judon is JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED for the @AtlantaFalcons . Robert Saleh Says Key Jets Player Is Dealing With An Injury
