After inking All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a major four-year extension recently, the Cowboys now face the prospect of trying to agree to terms on a long-term extension with Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott.

The former Mississippi State star is entering a contract year and with Dallas’s season opener just over a week away, GM Jerry Jones is running out of time to get something done with his franchise signal-caller.

Former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Harry Douglas went after Jerry Jones today on Get Up for the way he has gone about trying to sign his key players.

“Jerry’s delusional…All it takes is one team to give Dak Prescott everything that he’s asking for for him to be gone,” Douglas said.

If Dallas cannot agree to terms with Prescott on a deal soon, they are running the risk of losing him when he becomes a free agent next offseason.

As Douglas noted, possible quarterback-needy teams such as the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders could be willing to spend a lot of money to find their next franchise quarterback.

After last season, despite not having any playoff success yet again, Prescott led the league in touchdown passes (36) and completions (410).

If this team wants to contend, they need their Pro Bowl quarterback back with them down the road.

Extending a great player like CeeDee Lamb was a solid move, but it might not mean much if they can’t keep their veteran quarterback in the fold for the future.
