Chiefs Standout Carted Away From Field After Camp Injury

Image
(Photo by Peter Aiken/Getty Images)   The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough offseason filled with off-the-field issues from multiple players on both sides of the ball, so getting training camp underway has been a great way to shift the focus back to the gridiron and put the distractions in the rearview mirror in pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl championship. That quest hit a minor speedbump when one of the team’s best defenders was carted off the field at training camp. The Kansas City Star’s Sam McDowell shared a video on X of linebacker Nick Bolton being driven away from the practice field on a cart after reportedly suffering a left elbow injury. Elbow injury for Nick Bolton, Andy Reid said. https://t.co/C91zvAmdYX — Sam McDowell (@SamMcDowell11) July 31, 2024 It’s particularly concerning given the fact that Bolton missed nine games last season after having surgery on his left wrist. Jazz Chisholm Jr. Adds Message To New Yankees Uniform

Image
(Photo By Winslow Townson/Getty Images)   Jazz Chisholm Jr. loves the big stage. He is an athletic and energetic young player who has been given the chance of his life: to be an everyday player for the New York Yankees. He was, for a couple of years, the face of the Miami Marlins and even helped them reach the postseason twice, in 2020 as a complementary player and last year as one of their stars. He has swag, he is popular, he is outgoing and he is talented. As former Yankees great CC Sabathia recently said, he was born to play in New York. To give his new uniform a personal touch, Chisholm had a phrase added to his belt. “Jazz Chisholm Jr. has brought his swag to The Bronx. The green belt he has been wearing with his Yankees uniform has ‘We are not the same’ designed on it,” MLB tweeted. Scouts Comparing Cooper Flagg To One-Time NBA All-Star

Image
(Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)   Cooper Flagg was the No. 1 recruit in the 2024 high school class and is the presumed No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and he will bring a ton of attention back to college basketball this season with the Duke Blue Devils. One former NBA All-Star, in particular, has been the most common comparison for Flagg so far as fans and analysts continue to get more familiar with his game. The more you watch him, the more you see the flashes that bring back memories of former Utah Jazz star Andrei Kirilenko. HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto shared that multiple NBA scouts have been comparing Flagg to the retired All-Star. “Flagg is like Kirilenko, he’s very impactful defensively, can guard multiple positions, and is a great weak-side shot blocker,” one scout said, via Basketball on X. Jets Have Made A Decision About Aaron Rodgers For Preseason

Image
(Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)   The New York Jets don’t have any more margin for error. They know that this tenure with Aaron Rodgers could be just a one-and-done kind of situation. He contemplated retirement before his trade to the Big Apple, so he could weigh his options again. He could also become a free agent and pursue a different, more favorable situation for him. With that in mind, and considering his age and the fact that he’s coming off a season-ending Achilles injury, Robert Saleh and his coaching staff have officially made up their minds about whether to play him in the preseason. According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, the former MVP isn’t likely to suit up for the Jets in the preseason. Steve Kerr Has Honest Admission About Not Playing Jayson Tatum Sunday

Image
(Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)   Team USA overpowered Serbia in their first game of the Paris Olympics and they did it without Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics. That move had a lot of people talking and left head coach Steve Kerr defending himself. According to NBC Sports, Kerr said he “felt like an idiot” for not playing Tatum but “went to the combinations that I felt made the most sense.” Steve Kerr admitted he "felt like an idiot" for not playing Jayson Tatum in Team USA's win over Serbia https://t.co/ZkpFk6TUE1 — Warriors on NBCS (@NBCSWarriors) July 29, 2024 “I thought I was crazy when I looked at everything and determined these are the lineups I want to get to,” Kerr said and added that the return of Kevin Durant changed his plans and led to him benching Tatum. While many Celtics fans are unhappy with Tatum’s absence, they will be glad to see that Team USA won their game even without Boston’s biggest star. They should also take solace in the...

Colin Cowherd Names Most ‘Overhyped’ Player In NBA

Image
(Photo by Christopher Pike/Getty Images)   Every NBA star playing for Team USA receives a lot of attention, but not all of it is positive. For Joel Embiid, his time with the Olympic team has opened him up to a lot of criticism. In fact, he received a scathing review from Colin Cowherd on Monday morning. Cowherd called Embiid “the most overhyped, coddled and over discussed player in the NBA” and said he is actively hurting Team USA. During their match, Embiid played for 11 minutes and only scored 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 0 assists. Meanwhile, Serbia’s big man, Nikola Jokic, achieved 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists during his 31 minutes. Cowherd stated all ...

Steve Kerr Reveals Why Jayson Tatum Didn’t Play Against Serbia

Image
(Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)   The Boston Celtics are coming off an NBA championship, but some of the players on the team are still on the court this summer as they’re representing Team USA during the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White make up three members of the 12-man roster and the program is considered the favorite to win the gold medal despite a strong field. Teams like Germany, Canada and France are expected to compete for a medal but Team USA’s collection of talent and depth makes them an overwhelming force on the court. The Americans’ path to the gold medal game started against Serbia in pool play and they dominated them to the tune of 110-84. LeBron James and Kevin Durant led the way with 44 points, but Tatum didn’t get a chance to contribute as he sat the entirety of the game. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr explained why Tatum was benched via Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe. “Steve Kerr says Jayson Tatum s...

Robert Griffin III Names The Best Player On Team USA

Image
(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)   The Los Angeles Lakers have largely stood pat during free agency despite another disappointing playoff run and they might regret that decision even more after seeing LeBron James play in the 2024 Olympics. Despite being the oldest player in the NBA, James proved he still has a lot of elite basketball left in him after another strong season during the 2024-25 NBA campaign. Now, James is on a quest to win another gold medal as he leads Team USA alongside a plethora of NBA stars. While Team USA has names like Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid on it, James is the main attraction and he’s played well up to this point. James got off to a relatively quiet start to the exhibition slate, but turned it on in the final two games against South Sudan and Germany. James carried that momentum into the win against Serbia and had people like Robert Griffin III declare him the best player in the world still via his personal Twitter account. “Lebron ...

Jayson Tatum’s Benching On Sunday Had Fans Talking

Image
(Photo by Paul Harding/Getty Images)   The Boston Celtics won the franchise’s 18th title in the 2024 NBA Finals, and now get to watch three of their stars on the international stage in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are part of the 12-man roster and will have a chance to help Team USA capture its fifth-consecutive gold medal. Tatum and Holiday were originally named as finalists to the roster, while White was a late addition after Kawhi Leonard opted to step down from the team. Tatum and Holiday got plenty of run during the five-game exhibition slate and played well as Team USA swept the games. However, in Team USA’s win against Serbia in their first game of pool play Tatum surprisingly didn’t see the floor. Midway through the game, Tatum’s absence was notable and had fans talking via NBA Central. “Steve Kerr has yet to play Jayson Tatum…” Steve Kerr has yet to play Jayson Tatum… pic.twitter.com/nPZhqKlfto — NBACentral (@TheDunk...

Jordan Love Breaks Silence On New Contract Extension

Image
(Photo by John Fisher/Getty Images)   The Green Bay Packers appear to be a major threat to compete for a Super Bowl during the 2024 season after a successful run in the 2024 NFL Playoffs. The Packers nearly made it to the NFC Championship Game before just falling short to the San Francisco 49ers, but it speaks to how far they’ve come in such a short period of time. Leading the charge is Jordan Love who broke out in his first year as the full-time starter for Green Bay after they traded longtime stalwart Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Love, a former first-round pick, got to develop behind the scenes but took full advantage of his opportunity and proved he is worthy enough to lead the Packers going forward. Green Bay went into training camp trying to negotiate a long-term extension with Love and his camp and the two sides were able to agree on a four-year, $220 million deal that will tie Love for highest-paid player in the NFL. After signing the historic deal, Love spok...

Former Eagles Executive Questions Cowboys Over Contract Situations

Image
(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   The Dallas Cowboys haven’t done much to quell concerns over their roster after their relative inaction in free agency. Owner Jerry Jones and his staff failed to address some of the holes on their team and seem content with the state of it heading into the 2024 NFL season. However, the more baffling decision has been not to re-sign Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to extensions despite having all offseason to do so. Prescott and Lamb have an argument as the best one-two punch in the NFL, though Dallas has yet to make much progress on new deals for their stars. Meanwhile, the rest of the league has locked up some of their star players to extensions that will only drive up Prescott and Lamb’s prices. Former Philadelphia Eagles executive Joe Banner openly questioned why the Cowboys continue to wait on re-signing their players via his personal Twitter account. “When I was at Eagles we thought that Cowboys plan to resign players as late as ...

Jerry Jones Was Asked If Dak Prescott Is Better Than Jordan Love

Image
(Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images)   The Dallas Cowboys may need to pony up even more money if they hope to sign Dak Prescott to an extension after seeing some of the other deals that have been agreed to around the NFL. Dallas owner Jerry Jones has been adamant that the team believes in Prescott and wants to sign him long term, but so far no deal seems to be imminent. Pressure must be mounting, though, after players like Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa signed lucrative deals with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins, respectively. However, the most jarring deal is Green Bay Packers Jordan Love’s as he signed for four years and $220 million, tying him for the highest-paid quarterback in the league. Jones was recently asked whether or not Prescott was better than Love and he sidestepped the question and emphasized he’s looking forward to his quarterback proving any doubters wrong via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I get in trouble every time I make comparisons,” ...

MLB Insider Reports Surprising Trade Between 2 World Series Contenders

Image
(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   Trade season is officially here! Late on Thursday, the Seattle Mariners acquired outfielder Randy Arozarena from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for prospects. Before that, the Arizona Diamondbacks put together a trade for Miami Marlins left-hander AJ Puk. On Friday, the Boston Red Sox acquired James Paxton from the Los Angeles Dodgers, so deals are officially starting to come in bunches. The most high-profile of them all, however, was struck by two World Series contenders: the Philadelphia Phillies and the Baltimore Orioles. MLB insider Jeff Passan has all the details. “Trade news — between two teams that could be facing one another in the World Series this year. The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired outfielder Austin Hays and will be sending reliever Seranthony Dominguez and center fielder Cristian Pache to the Baltimore Orioles,” he tweeted. Dodgers Activate Star Pitcher Ahead Of Thursday Start

Image
(Photo by Eric Espada/Getty Images)   The Los Angeles Dodgers are used to having some of the best pitching staffs in MLB, particularly in recent years. They have made pitching depth and quality organizational priorities over the years. Injuries, however, have hit them hard this season. Right now, Walker Buehler, Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, Emmet Sheehan and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are on the injured list. That’s an entire rotation right there, which is why the fact they are first in the NL West with a 7.5-game lead before Thursday’s games is so impressive. They are, however, enjoying some excellent news on Thursday. “The Dodgers activated 10-time All-Star Clayton Kershaw from the injured list and designated RHP Yohan Ramirez for assignment,” the team announced via Twitter. Vic Fangio Has An Interesting Revelation On How He Uses Analytics

Image
(Photo by Richard Rodriguez/Getty Images)   The Philadelphia Eagles clearly missed Jonathan Gannon last season. Nick Sirianni even wound up replacing Sean Desai with Matt Patricia at one point to try and fix their inexplicably inconsistent defense. That’s why they wanted to bring in one of the best in business to solve that issue, getting Vic Fangio. Fangio had outstayed his welcome in South Beach and reportedly had a complicated relationship with some Miami Dolphins players, but his reputation still preceded him as one of the best defensive minds in the game. Moreover, it seems like Fangio is also a bit of a Billy Beane himself. In a recent sitdown with the media, the renowned coach admitted that he had his very own personal and secret system for analytics (via NBC Sports Philadelphia). Warriors Player Named As ‘Most Overrated’ Player In The League

Image
(Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)   Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors has received a lot of attention over the last few seasons, with some people saying he’s one of the most talented young stars in the league. But is there a chance that Kuminga is actually overvalued? According to NBC Sports, Bleacher Report ranked Kuminga as the “most overrated” player in the entire league. This might be very surprising and disappointing news for fans who have been faithfully following the Warriors lately. Nick Nurse Reveals His Thoughts On 76ers’ Offseason

Image
(Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images)   The Philadelphia 76ers have had a busy offseason and their acquisition of Paul George is still the most talked-about move of the summer. But according to head coach Nick Nurse, the team did a lot more than just that. Speaking to Dan Olinger and the press, Nurse touched upon the team’s productive offseason. He directly mentioned the addition of big man Andre Drummond, who he thinks could help Joel Embiid and the rest of the team in the new season. “An example like Drummond, I think everyone understands that we needed a veteran guy that’s a starter … if we need him to play 40 minutes, he can do it,” Nurse said. “There were things we needed to get done. Analyst Reveals How Close Game With South Sudan Will Help Team USA

Image
(Photo by David Ramos/Getty Images)   South Sudan almost embarrassed Team USA in a huge way this weekend when they nearly beat them during an exhibition game on the road to the Olympics. Team USA won the match but it was still a very close call that has many people worried. Speaking on FOX Sports Radio, Dan Beyer said this game might help the team. He stated that the surprising performance from South Sudan has made the Americans “locked in” for the Olympics and ready to play much harder in the days and weeks ahead. Bears Activate Key Player From Injury List

Image
(Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)   The Chicago Bears should be in the conversation for winners of the offseason as they dramatically improved their roster ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Armed with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears took USC quarterback Caleb Williams which gives them their cornerstone for the long-term. However, they also made sure to give Williams weapons to work with as they also took Rome Odunze ninth overall, traded for Keenan Allen and signed D’Andre Swift in free agency. There are also incumbent receiving options like DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, giving Williams a plethora of options in the passing game. Not to be forgotten, the Bears also signed Gerald Everett who is slotted to operate as the backup tight end to Kmet. Everett was placed on the NFL’s non-football injury list this past Friday, but was then activated off of it via Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. “The Bears are activating TE Gerald Everett off the non-football inj...

NFL Star Got Engaged On Saturday

Image
(Photo by Patrick Smith/Getty Images)   After a few years of going all-in on a Super Bowl, it appears that the Los Angeles Chargers are embracing for a remodeling year of sorts after they reset the organization. The Chargers fired Brandon Staley and Tom Telesco and brought in Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz to serve as their new head coach and general manager, respectively. The first order of business was parting ways with several of their high-priced veterans which included Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. There were also rumors that they would look to offload Joey Bosa, though the superstar edge rusher remains on the team. At his peak, Bosa is one of the best pass rushers in the game as he can single-handedly wreck a team’s offensive plans. Although Bosa and the Chargers will be using training camp to learn under Harbaugh, he celebrated a personal milestone after he got engaged. CONGRATULATIONS: #Chargers star Joey Bosa got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Amanda Kassdik...

Orioles Showing Interest In 2 Top Relievers

Image
(Photo by David John Griffin/Icon Sportswire)   The Baltimore Orioles are in the middle of a fierce battle atop the American League East and are looking to fend off the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox over the second half of the season en route to a second consecutive division title. The bullpen has been a strength for the team this year, but recent reports suggest the front office is looking to add to that strength and continue building up the bridge to Yennier Cano and Craig Kimbrel at the end of games. Jon Heyman of The New York Post shared two potential targets for the Orioles, saying “They are in touch on big relievers, including two All-Stars — ex-Oriole Tanner Scott and even the 103.7 mph-throwing Mason Miller. Miller may not go anywhere, but don’t put it past the Orioles to be able to land both a useful or better starter and reliever,” Heyman wrote . Heyman added that the Orioles have a more glaring need in the starting rotation, but that won’t stop them from pot...

Speaking to Michael Scotto, per NBACentral, Brandon Miller said that everyone is pleased to see Bridges coming back. “I think that was a great thing for us having him back. Grizzlies, Nets Announce Trade

Image
(Photo by Justin Ford/Getty Images)   Ziaire Williams has done some great stuff during his time with the Memphis Grizzlies but there has recently been a growing assumption that the team was looking to part ways with him. On Friday afternoon, they made it official. Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Grizzlies are trading Williams and a 2030 second-round pick via the Dallas Mavericks to the Brooklyn Nets for Mamadi Diakite. Williams, who is still just 22 years old, was the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. That means that he could grow into a hugely important player for the Nets or any other team. Former Player Says Zion Williamson Is Not A Generational Talent

Image
(Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty Images)   The New Orleans Pelicans keep waiting for Zion Williamson. We’ve seen how impactful he can be when he’s on the court, but other than last season, he hasn’t been on the court very often. That’s why, even though he’s clearly very good and very talented, some fans have already lost faith in him. Moreover, former NBA star Rasheed Wallace doesn’t agree with the notion of him being a generational talent. “I don’t see him [Zion Williamson] as a generational talent like that unless you’re talking being a dunker…I don’t see it as him being that generational game changer like that.” Rasheed Wallace evaluates Zion’s talent pic.twitter.com/dmb1yaD89q — Rasheed Wallace (@UnderdogSheed) July 18, 2024 Talking on his podcast, he stated that as good a kid as he is and as good a player as he is, he’s only a generational dunker, not a game-changer. Young Warriors Player Is Ready For A Bigger Role In Second Year

Image
(Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)   The Golden State Warriors found a diamond in the rough last season. Brandin Podziemski wound up having a big role right out of the gate, and he carved a bigger spot in the rotation as the season went by. He started 28 games and even took Klay Thompson’s spot in the starting unit at one point. So, now that there are high hopes and expectations about him after making the All-Rookie team last season, and given how the Warriors’ roster is shaping up, he knows he’s going to be asked to do more next season. When asked about his focus for the upcoming campaign, Podziemski admitted that he wanted to be more of a scorer. Talking to Warriors on NBC Sports, he claimed that now that Thompson and Chris Paul are gone, he knows he’s going to have to step up and give Stephen Curry a helping hand to carry the load on the offensive end of the floor.
