Team USA overpowered Serbia in their first game of the Paris Olympics and they did it without Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

That move had a lot of people talking and left head coach Steve Kerr defending himself.

According to NBC Sports, Kerr said he “felt like an idiot” for not playing Tatum but “went to the combinations that I felt made the most sense.”

“I thought I was crazy when I looked at everything and determined these are the lineups I want to get to,” Kerr said and added that the return of Kevin Durant changed his plans and led to him benching Tatum.

While many Celtics fans are unhappy with Tatum’s absence, they will be glad to see that Team USA won their game even without Boston’s biggest star.

They should also take solace in the fact that Kerr says the next game will be different.

He said that every game is going to be different and he will continue to make adjustments to the roster.

He has already said that Tatum will get time on the court later this week, although it’s not clear how much.

Kerr has the tough job of making roster choices that will upset a lot of people but it’s all for the greater good.

He has so much talent on the roster that he has to make difficult decisions that might seem ill-advised but will get the job done.

Tatum didn’t play on Sunday but Team USA still won, which is ultimately good news for American fans.

On Wednesday, they might win again and Tatum will be involved.
