Knicks Announce Contract Extension With Tom Thibodeau

The New York Knicks now have their head coach locked in for the foreseeable future.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the organization has come to terms on a three-year extension with head coach Tom Thibodeau.

The extension will run through the 2027-2028 season.

New York is coming off its first 50-win season since 2012-2013.

Before Thibodeau came around in 2020-2021, the Knicks had missed the playoffs in six consecutive seasons.

The two-time NBA Coach of the Year has guided the franchise to back-to-back conference semi-final appearances and will look to take them further in 2024-2025.

His roster, on paper, looks very solid after the team recently traded for former Brooklyn Nets star Mikal Bridges.

For the foreseeable future, the Knicks will have All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson, former NBA steals leader OG Anunoby, Bridges, the versatile Josh Hart, and All-Star power forward Julius Randle all in the fold.

Tom Thibodeau is still searching for his first NBA ring as a head coach and may have a chance to get that over the next few seasons.

Not only has he found some success with the Knicks, but Thibodeau has found success with a number of other NBA teams.

He took the Chicago Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals with who is still the youngest MVP in NBA history in Derrick Rose.

He also took what has been a predominantly mediocre franchise in the Minnesota Timberwolves to the playoffs in his tenure there.

Now in New York entering his fifth season there, the 66-year-old coach has an opportunity to take the Knicks farther than they’ve been in a long, long time.

Lakers Given Notable Odds To Make NBA Finals
