The Chicago Bears should be in the conversation for winners of the offseason as they dramatically improved their roster ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Armed with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears took USC quarterback Caleb Williams which gives them their cornerstone for the long-term.

However, they also made sure to give Williams weapons to work with as they also took Rome Odunze ninth overall, traded for Keenan Allen and signed D’Andre Swift in free agency.

There are also incumbent receiving options like DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, giving Williams a plethora of options in the passing game.

Not to be forgotten, the Bears also signed Gerald Everett who is slotted to operate as the backup tight end to Kmet.

Everett was placed on the NFL’s non-football injury list this past Friday, but was then activated off of it via Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.

“The Bears are activating TE Gerald Everett off the non-football injury list,” Fishbain reported.

It looks like whatever issue Everett was dealing with was minor as he’s now set to report back to the team and practice during training camp.

An athletic tight end, Everett’s been a useful piece in the passing game at his previous stops and provides solid depth for a Chicago team looking to make some noise in 2024.

With Williams manning the offense, the Bears are projected to be a pass-first team which plays into their strengths given all the receiving talent on the roster.

While Everett might not have a large role, he can still help out Chicago as it develops Williams.
