Analyst Believes The Cavs Need To Be More Aggressive This Offseason

Image
(Photo by Nick Cammett/Getty Images)   The Cleveland Cavaliers look like a team that could be on the verge of doing something special. But they need to take some risks and chances to do so, or they’ll be stuck in that mid-level tier for the foreseeable future. That’s why Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN Cleveland believes it’s time they become more aggressive in the offseason, citing that they need to do more than just sign a Kelly Oubre Jr. type of player and a backup center. "I think the Cavs need to be a little bit more aggressive than just signing Kelly Oubre and a backup center," – @HammerNation19 . Do you think the Cavs will pull off a big swing in FA? pic.twitter.com/Fs0bxAZLn3 — ESPN Cleveland (@ESPNCleveland) June 30, 2023 He’s got a valid point, although it’s not like the front office hasn’t done anything lately, as they were quite aggressive in stealing Donovan Mitchell away from the Miami Heat and New York Knicks just last offseason. The Heat And Cavs Are Reportedly Discussing A Notable Trade

Image
(Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)   There have been plenty of big rumors surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers as of late. It all started when Brian Windhorst of ESPN claimed that he heard some “outlandish” things from the organization, and then someone claimed that they were looking to trade Darius Garland. Windhorst later cleared the air by affirming that the team wouldn’t trade Garland or Donovan Mitchell, but it still seems like the Cavs are getting ready to make some moves. According to Miami Heat beat writer Barry Jackson, via NBACentral, the Cavs are currently discussing a sign-and-trade involving Max Strus. Adam Wainwright Discusses His Absence From Twitter

Image
(Photo by Richard Rodriguez/Getty Images)   Adam Wainwright’s last start against the Chicago Cubs in London did not go according to plan. The two-time World Series champion surrendered seven runs over three innings as the St. Louis Cardinals dropped the series opener. But things only got worse after the game, when several Cardinals fans threw their angst at him and sent him messages of hate on Twitter. As a result, the three-time All-Star ultimately deleted his Twitter account, which was met with much disappointment from the vast majority of the Cardinals fanbase, and anger towards those who directed hateful comments towards him. On Wednesday, Wainwright discussed what went into the decision to ultimately remove himself from the world of social media. What went into #stlcards Adam Wainwright deleting his social media this week? Wiano joined #TheOpeningDrive for #WednesdaysWithWaino to talk about the London trip & dealing with the reactions. Miguel Cabrera Left Wednesdays Game In A Shocking Manner

Image
(Photo by Tim Heitman/Getty Images)   Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera doesn’t usually back down from umpires. He is not frequently tossed from games, but if he doesn’t like a call, he will say it. He often confronts umpires about their decisions. On Wednesday, however, it’s hard to justify the umpire’s decision to throw him out of the game. With the Texas Rangers up 6-0 against the Tigers in the fifth inning, Cabrera didn’t like a call but went to his dugout. Once he was sitting there, he realized the umpire had tossed him from the game and went directly to the clubhouse. Jordan Clarkson Has Made A Decision About His Contract

Image
(Photo by Alex Goodlett/Getty Images)   The Utah Jazz were expected to be bottom-feeders and compete for the No. 1 pick last season, but that was never the case. Danny Ainge and Will Hardy wanted nothing to do with tanking, and it took them a while before making some salary-dumping moves to gather picks and part ways with some of their veterans. Surprisingly, that also led them to keep Jordan Clarkson, who was a prime trade candidate for most of the season. Now, the perennial Sixth Man of the Year candidate is paying them back for that confidence by picking up his player option for the upcoming campaign, according to Jazz beat writer Sarah Todd. I'm told Jordan Clarkson will exercise his player option to stay with the Utah Jazz for the 2023-24 season, according to league sources. This leaves the door open for the Jazz to extend his contract. — Sarah Todd (@NBASarah) June 29, 2023 Clarkson was a highly-coveted player for his scoring prowess off the bench, and he boasts...

Analyst Believes 1 NFC Team Could Surprise This Season

Image
(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   The Washington Commanders have gone through some major changes, and we’re not talking just about their name and potential new owner. They’re set to start second-year QB Sam Howell next season, and there’s plenty of hope in their new-look offense orchestrated by new OC Eric Bieniemy. With that in mind, NFL analyst John Middlekauff believes it wouldn’t be shocking to see them win at least ten games next season, citing that they could be one of the most surprising teams in the league in 2023. Stephen King Shares Humorous Take On Domingo Germans Perfect Game

Image
(Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images)   On Wednesday night, the New York Yankees experienced a special moment when right-hander Domingo German completed the 24th perfect game in Major League Baseball history. The Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics by a final score of 11-0. All around the baseball world, fans have been celebrating German’s epic accomplishment and the strong performance he put together against the A’s. However, there is one person in particular who thinks this performance should have an asterisk next to it because it came against the A’s. On Twitter, famous horror author Stephen King jokingly expressed his opinion on the matter. Domingo German’s perfect game should go in the record books with an asterisk. Because it was against Oakland. — Stephen King (@StephenKing) June 29, 2023 This may ultimately rub some Yankees fans the wrong way, as German certainly pitched a gem against the A’s last night. Stats Show How Brook Lopez Made NBA History Last Season

Image
(Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images)   The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t have the postseason they wanted but they definitely had a regular season to be proud of. They ended the year with a 58-24 record, which was the best for the entire league. Milwaukee clearly had one impressive year and a huge part of their success was the hard work of big man Brook Lopez. For the season, Lopez averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks a game. That led to him being part of the First Team All-Defense. According to StatMuse, it also makes him the first player in league history to record 125+ blocks and 125+ three-pointers in multiple seasons. Fans Are Remembering A Moment In Mike Tysons Career Today

Image
(Photo by Francois Nel/Getty Images)   There are few people in sports who are more widely recognized than Mike Tyson. Often deemed as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, he’s also made a name for himself for several bizarre incidents. We’re not talking about his cameos in “The Hangover” series or even him getting a huge tribal tattoo on his face, but rather about his iconic — and now infamous — bout with Evander Holyfield. Notably, today marks the 26th anniversary of that legendary fight between these two legends, when Tyson bit Holyfield’s ear off. Holyfield was obviously declared the winner upon Tyson’s disqualification, and the fans took to Twitter to reminisce about that legendary bout almost three decades later. Guardians Await A Health Update On Terry Francona

Image
(Photo by Ed Zurga/Getty Images)   There were some scary moments at Kauffman Stadium, in Kansas City, on Tuesday night. Cleveland Guardians insider Mandy Bell reported that manager Terry Francona wasn’t feeling well just before the game against the Kansas City Royals. Francona, a former World Series champion and Manager of the Year winner, underwent tests at a Kansas City hospital. Bench coach DeMarlo Hale was the manager for the Guardians in the game, one they ended up winning, 2-1. Bell sent a brief update of the situation on Tuesday night, but there weren’t many details available. “A little update now: Tito will be held overnight at the hospital for observation. We won’t know any more until tomorrow,” she tweeted. A little update now: Tito will be held overnight at the hospital for observation. (Photo by Megan Briggs/Getty Images)   Kevin Love of the Miami Heat just had quite the season. After starting the year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team he had been with since 2014, he moved to the Heat, where he started in 17 of 21 games and became a very crucial part of the lineup. But now, Love might be on the move again. According to Sam Amico, via Basketball Forever, Love may be targeted by the Milwaukee Bucks during the offseason. Joey Wiemer Played The Hero For The Brewers In New York

Image
(Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)   The Milwaukee Brewers have found themselves back at the top of the NL Central after a come-from-behind win over the New York Mets at Citi Field on Monday night. They entered the game just a half-game back of the upstart Cincinnati Reds. Milwaukee fell into a 1-0 hole in the fourth inning and they weren’t able to solve Justin Verlander. However, rookie Joey Wiemer helped pick them up off the mat in the sixth when he clobbered a go-ahead two-run homer off of right-hander Drew Smith. That ultimately proved to be the difference in the game as the Brewers held on for a 2-1 victory. On Twitter, the team posted the video of Wiemer’s go-ahead home run. 2-run blast from Wiems #ThisIsMyCrew | @JWiems17 pic.twitter.com/xvt9aWK41u — Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) June 27, 2023 The ball bounced off of the apple just beyond the center field wall as the Brewers stunned the crowd in New York. Alek Manoah Appears To Have Completely Lost His Way

Image
(Photo by Mark Blinch/Getty Images)   Last season, Alek Manoah was one of, if not the most reliable starter for the Toronto Blue Jays . He helped guide them to a 92-win season by going 16-7 in his 31 starts and posting a 2.24 ERA, which was second only to Justin Verlander in the American League. This year has been a completely different story, as Manoah has posted a 6.36 ERA in his 13 starts. He also owns a record of 1-7. The young right-hander was struggling so badly in fact that the Blue Jays demoted him to the Florida Complex League. However, things haven’t gone according to plan at that level either. He made his first rookie ball start today against the Florida Complex League Yankees, and allowed 11 runs over 2.2 innings pitched. The MLB podcast “Talkin’ Baseball” posted his line on Twitter. Mets Announcer Summed Up Sundays Meltdown In A Perfect Way

Image
(Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images)   Just when you think the New York Mets ‘ season cannot get any worse, they find a new way to lose. On Sunday, the Mets held a 6-3 lead entering the eighth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies. But their bullpen proceeded to blow the lead in the worst way possible. It took the Phillies only one hit to take the lead. The Mets relievers walked three batters, had one reach by error, and hit two more batters to lose the lead. According to Awful Announcing, the Mets announcers were shocked by this total meltdown. Here's how the Phillies' go-ahead HBP looked and sounded on the Mets broadcast. "Bullpen. Carlos Rodon Has A Positive Update For Yankees Fans

Image
(Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images)   The New York Yankees have had rotation depth issues all year long. Three of their best starters opened the year on the injured list: Carlos Rodon, Frankie Montas, and Luis Severino. Since the start of the season, only Severino has made it back; and other pitchers such as Nestor Cortes Jr. have gotten hurt. It has been a nightmare at times for manager Aaron Boone. Rodon, however, seems on the cusp of getting back after weeks of battling a chronic back issue. The lefty, signed by the Yankees to a six-year, $162 million deal in the offseason, pitched four scoreless innings and struck out four on Sunday in his latest rehab start for the Somerset Patriots, the Yanks’ Double-A affiliate. It was a clear step in the right direction for the oft-injured southpaw. He discussed the results of the rehab start. “’I feel like that was pretty close to normal,’ Rodón said, adding, ‘I feel ready. That’s a decision we have to talk about, where I fall...

Matt McLain Is Copying Joey Votto In The Best Way

Image
(Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty Images)   First baseman Joey Votto is a Cincinnati Reds legend. Since getting his call-up in 2007, he has only played for the Reds and has accumulated 345 home runs and a .926 OPS in his storied career. That’s why anything that young Reds infielder Matt McLain can do similarly, it will be received with open arms by the organization. If you are looking for similarities, then look at this bit of data by Reds stats expert Joel Luckhaupt. “Fun comp of first 37 career games: Matt McLain: .325/.380/.541, 11 doubles, 5 HR. The Warriors Reportedly Have A Strong Confidence In Re-Signing Draymond Green

Image
(Photo by Thearon W. Henderson/Getty Images)   After coming up short in their title defense this past season, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors headed into a summer filled with uncertainty. First, the team lost their longtime general manager Bob Myers, who chose to step down from his post and hand the job over to Michael Dunleavy Jr. Then the team made a move that shocked the NBA, with the Warriors trading Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards in exchange for veteran point guard Chris Paul. With Paul now in the Bay Area, the attention turns to free agent Draymond Green, who seemingly wants to return to Golden State, but nothing has been set in stone. According to Marc Stein via Bleacher Report, there’s “strong confidence” that Green isn’t going anywhere and a new deal will get done to keep him in San Francisco. After winning the NBA Draft Lottery a few weeks ago, the stage was set for the five-time NBA champions to bring in Wembanyama and potentially start building another winning team under legendary head coach Gregg Popovich. It seems as though Wembanyama isn’t wasting any time getting to know his new city, with Spurs royalty getting to meet the French phenom. Shortly after getting drafted, Wembanyama took to Twitter with an epic picture of him with Spurs legends Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Sean Elliott, and Manu Ginobili. Stats Show About Important Tobias Harris Has Been In Tenure With 76ers

Image
(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)   With the Philadelphia 76ers potentially a move or two away from being the team to beat in the Eastern Conference, there’s been a lot of talk during the NBA offseason about what the team should do moving forward. The obvious move for Philadelphia would be to trade veteran forward Tobias Harris, who is in the last year of his contract with the team and can still play at a high level, meaning he’d be an intriguing option for other teams. Although Harris is in the ideal situation to be traded, the 76ers seem adamant about keeping him, and after looking at what he’s accomplished in his five years in Philadelphia, it seems like a smart move by the team. According to StatMuse, Harris has been highly efficient during his time in Philadelphia and is arguably their best player statistically, behind reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid. Vikings RB Reveals What Dalvin Cook Has Meant To His Career

Image
(Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire)   On June 9, the Minnesota Vikings decided to part ways with star running back Dalvin Cook after six years of service and four straight Pro Bowl appearances in the last four years. Although Cook is, without a doubt, one of the best backs in the NFL today, the Vikings wanted to move on and did just that, making him a free agent and able to sign with any team that comes calling. Unfortunately for Cook, he remains unsigned two full weeks after being released, which isn’t a great indication of things to come for the veteran back, especially considering that the Miami Dolphins were thought to jump on signing him immediately to bolster their backfield. With Cook still trying to figure out his NFL future, it is back to business for the Vikings and running back Alexander Mattison, who is embracing his new role as the lead and being thankful for Cook pushing him to be the best he can be via SiriusXM NFL Radio. . @Vikings  RB Alexander ...

Insider Reveals The Contract Dillon Brooks Is Seeking In Free Agency

Image
(Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images)   The 2022-23 NBA season didn’t go well for the Memphis Grizzlies , who went from a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference to a team marred by off-the-court distractions and drama. Although getting crushed by the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the first round was rough, the Grizzlies will have a chance to bounce back with a vengeance next season with a clean slate and a veteran point guard to fill Ja Morant’s shoes for the first 25 games of the year in Marcus Smart. However, this summer, there will be some house cleaning for Memphis, with the team already letting it be known that Dillon Brooks is not in their plans, as they will not attempt to re-sign the free agent to be. With Brooks making a spectacle of himself in the NBA playoffs by disrespecting LeBron James, there’s no telling what the market will be like for the veteran forward, but he does have an asking price, according to Marc Stein via Legion Hoops. Insider Names 4 Teams That Could Pursue Derrick Rose In Free Agency

Image
(Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images)   After only 88 games played in three years with the New York Knicks, it appears one-time NBA MVP Derrick Rose could be on the move again this summer, as he’ll likely be headed to another team in free agency. Although it has been a challenge for Rose to stay healthy for most of his career, the veteran point guard continues to get jobs and has played for five NBA teams thus far, with a sixth potentially on the horizon. At this point in his career, Rose is likely looking to either play for a legitimate title contender in a role off the bench or go back to the Chicago Bulls, where he’s still very much considered a hometown hero and fan favorite. According to Steve Popper of Newsday Sports, three title-contending teams, in particular, could pursue Rose this summer, with the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics potentially showing interest via NBA Central. Derrick Rose is likely to leave the Knicks in free agency, per @Stev...

Draymond Green Had An Honest Admission About Chris Paul In 2020

Image
(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)   The Golden State Warriors made a shocking move earlier this week when they parted with Jordan Poole, sending the young guard to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul. Poole was a key piece in the team’s championship run last year, but after his tumultuous 2022-23 NBA season, new general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. shipped him to D.C. Paul is a proven veteran still trying to win a championship, and the Warriors offer him a solid chance to win the title next year. During his career, Paul has rubbed some players the wrong way in the league, and Draymond Green was one of them. 76ers Reportedly Wanted A Big Return From Cavs In Potential Tobias Harris Trade

Image
(Photo by Lisa Lake/Getty Images for PGD Global)   The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the busiest teams in the 2023 offseason. Following another disappointing playoff exit last season, the front office made some changes, parting ways with Doc Rivers and bringing in Nick Nurse. Once free agency opens, they’ll likely try to re-sign James Harden. Meanwhile, they have been mentioned in recent trade rumors. But the Sixers are reportedly asking for a big return to part with their stars. According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, when the Cavaliers asked about Tobias Harris’ availability, the Sixers asked for a lot. “Last week, sources told The Inquirer the Sixers are overvaluing Harris and asking for “outrageous packages in return.” That goes in line with what a source said the Sixers told the Cavs what it would take days before the draft: A package of Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and a draft pick.” Tobias Harris the Cavs? pic.twitter.com/817Svs9qEm — t...

Damian Lillard Was Reportedly Not Happy About Blazers Using No. 3 Pick

Image
(Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images)   The Portland Trail Blazers have been the talk of the town in the NBA ever since the 2022-23 season ended. After several years with the team, Damian Lillard’s days in Portland are believed to be numbered. This offseason is crucial for the future of the franchise. If they can’t assemble a competitive team, Lillard is expected to demand a trade. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft appeared to be a good way to find help for Lillard, but the Blazers kept it and drafted Scoot Henderson. This decision reportedly didn’t please Lillard’s camp, according to Sean Highkin. “When it comes to what happened in the draft, from everything I’ve heard, Dame & his people were not thrilled that [Portland] used the pick.
