Breaking: Seahawks Decide On New Head Coach

Image
(Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)   The Seattle Seahawks will have a new head coach for the first time in 14 seasons. After letting Pete Carroll go this offseason, the Seahawks interviewed a number of head coaching candidates before landing on someone who coached one of the best defenses in the NFL. Seattle hired Baltimore Ravens head coach Mike Macdonald, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, just days after the conclusion of the AFC title game. Mavericks Reporter Calls Out Stephen A. Smith For ‘Ridiculous’ Take

Image
(Photo by Cindy Ord/Getty Images for SiriusXM)   There is no doubt that Jalen Brunson has been playing very well for the New York Knicks and that people associated with the Dallas Mavericks, both players and fans, are disappointed he left a couple of seasons ago. But who is to blame for Brunson’s departure from the Mavericks? On ESPN, Stephen A. Smith questioned why people haven’t held Luka Doncic accountable for letting Brunson leave. He also asked why more fans haven’t pressed the Mavericks organization about losing Brunson. Mavericks reporter Brad Townsend took to Twitter to say he found Smith’s questions “patently ridiculous on multiple levels.” “You don’t think Doncic made it clear he wanted Brunson to stay?” Townsend asked before further wondering why the star Mavericks player should be accountable for Brunson leaving. He also wondered where Smith has been for the last two years, as many people have questioned the Mavericks about letting Brunson pack up and head to ...

Kevin Garnett Might Take A Role With Former Team

Image
(Photo by Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for Tribeca Festival)   So far, it’s been a great season for the Minnesota Timberwolves. After years of meandering toward the bottom or middle of the Western Conference, the Timberwolves are now sitting as the second seed. And things could be getting even better for Minnesota, especially if NBA legend Kevin Garnett becomes part of the organization. A new story from Brian Windhorst of ESPN, via Kyle Theige, highlighted a stunning fact: “There is a chance Garnett will take a role with the organization” if the Timberwolves are sold by longtime owner Glen Taylor. https://t.co/IyZLobaIIE pic.twitter.com/GJ0hlOwUxn — Kyle Theige (@KyleTheige) January 29, 2024 Apparently, Garnett has been in a “bitter dispute with Taylor and distant from the franchise in recent years.” The Hall of Famer was once a huge part of the Timberwolves when he was on the team. He averaged 19.8 points, 11 rebounds, and 4.3 assists with the Timberwolves and scored...

Insider Reveals Potential Tyrese Haliburton Return Date

Image
(Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)   Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers has been having perhaps the best season of his career. Because of that, he has earned a ton of praise as well as his first starting position in the upcoming All-Star Game. Sadly, Haliburton has been on the sidelines for the last 10 of 11 games with a hamstring injury. But according to Adrian Wojnarowski, there is “optimism” that Haliburton will return to the lineup for Indiana’s game against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. ESPN Sources: There’s optimism Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton will return to the lineup vs. the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Patrick Mahomes’ Pregame Outfit Had Fans Talking Sunday

(Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/Getty Images)   Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will appear in their sixth consecutive AFC title game today and look to make the Super Bowl for the fourth time since 2018. They’ll have to dispatch the Baltimore Ravens, though, who took the No. 1 seed in the conference and demolished the upstart Houston Texans in the divisional round this past week. So as he prepares for one of the biggest games of his career, Mahomes rocked a stylish maroon suit when he arrived at M&T Bank Stadium hours before the game (via James Palmer) and fans had plenty of comments about it. Chiefs Have Made A Decision About Kadarius Toney For Sunday

Image
(Photo by David Eulitt/Getty Images)   The Kansas City Chiefs may not be the same team that won Super Bowl LVII last year, but they remain a threat to repeat as champions. The Chiefs won the AFC West again and have looked solid during the first two rounds of the 2023 NFL Playoffs. However, Kansas City finds itself on the road for the second consecutive week where they’ll play the Baltimore Ravens. It’s a clash of titans as the Ravens and Chiefs were considered the best teams in the conference this season, with the former being considered the favorites to advance to Super Bowl LVIII. Patrick Mahomes has had to make do with a downgraded receiving corps, though the defense has been able to propel the team to wins. As has been the case this postseason, the Chiefs offense will be missing Kadarius Toney against the Ravens via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. “ The Chiefs have downgraded WR Kadarius Toney (personal/hip) to out for Sunday at the Ravens,” Rapoport reported. Patriots Have Reportedly Made A Decision On New Defensive Coordinator

Image
(Photo by Andy Lewis/Icon Sportswire)   The New England Patriots will enter the 2024 NFL season with a much different coaching staff than fans are used to. Having recent disappointing seasons, owner Robert Kraft decided to part ways with long-time head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots replaced Belichick with linebackers coach Jerod Mayo who is well-respected in the building. Mayo is an interesting candidate because of his former experience as a player as well as his time helping coach defensive players. Mayo and New England have been busy searching for candidates to fill their coordinator positions, including defensive coordinator. Like Mayo, it appears they’ve settled on an in-house candidate to become their new defensive coordinator via Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. “All signs point to the Patriots promoting DL coach DeMarcus Covington to defensive coordinator, per sources. Should be official early next week, New England has called other candidates to tell them ...

Jim Harbaugh Has A Clear Choice For Next Michigan Coach

Image
(Photo by Justin Casterline/Getty Images)   Jim Harbaugh is headed to Los Angeles to become the next head coach of the Chargers, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an opinion on who should be his replacement at Michigan. Harbaugh spent the past decade in Ann Arbor turning the Wolverines back into a perennial college football powerhouse before he finally won the College Football Playoff championship this year. Now, as he prepares for his return to the NFL, Harbaugh officially endorsed Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore to take over as head coach in 2024. “I’ll always be a loyal Wolverine. But not a better man to coach the team than Sherrone Moore,” Harbaugh said, per Angelique S. Chengelis via On3. “He has my vote, my support wholeheartedly. I feel like it’s in great hands.” Jim Harbaugh pushes for Michigan to promote Sherrone Moore to head coach: “I’ll always be a loyal Wolverine. Klay Thompson Reportedly Still Believes He’s A ‘High-Money Player’

Image
(Photo by Alex Bierens de Haan/Getty Images)   The Golden State Warriors have failed to find success in the 2023-24 NBA season, and the decline in the form of their veteran stars is a key reason behind that. Speaking of which, Klay Thompson is on a downward spiral and is no longer the star he once was. While Thompson did average more than 20 points per game in the last two seasons, he has failed to do so in the 2023-24 season. Moreover, his shooting efficiency has undoubtedly gone down. Keeping that in mind, there may only be a very slim chance that the Warriors offer him a max contract in the summer of 2024. While most NBA fans have accepted that Thompson is past his prime, the 33-year-old refuses to accept that as he still believes that he is a “high-money player” in the NBA, as revealed by Anthony Slater via NBACentral on Twitter. “He still believes he’s a high-level wing as a shooter and scorer that can defend bigger guys… he still thinks he’s a high money player and ...

Odds Show A Clear Favorite To Land Thanasis Antetokounmpo

Image
(Photo by Rich Graessle/Getty Images)   Although his brother receives way more attention, Thanasis Antetokounmpo has played in the NBA for several seasons now. For the last several years, he has been playing alongside his brother Giannis but there is a chance the Milwaukee Bucks move Antetokounmpo to another team. According to Bovada, via NBACentral, the New York Knicks have the best shot at landing him if he does get traded from the Bucks. Their odds sit at +150, while the Brooklyn Nets are behind them with +250. The Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Utah Jazz all have odds of +550. Image
(Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)   Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is having himself quite the year. He started dating Taylor Swift, landed a ton of endorsement deals, and now his team is headed to the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens. Kelce isn’t finished just yet, though, after the tight end made a brief cameo in a new commercial for Subway alongside Patrick Mahomes where the Chiefs quarterback hilariously said the company’s new footlong sandwich is his “favorite sidekick ever,” via TMZ Sports. Matt LaFleur Issues Statement On Joe Barry’s Departure

Image
(Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images)   The Green Bay Packers parted ways with Joe Barry. He was the team’s defensive coordinator since 2021. Unfortunately, the team’s defense regressed every year under his tutelage, especially when it came to stopping the run. Barry was on the hot seat since the 2022 season, so this was far from a surprise. That’s why HC Matt LaFleur released a statement thanking him for everything he did for the organization, calling him one of the best men he’s had the opportunity to work with in the league (via Ryan Wood). “We want to thank Joe for his commitment and contributions to our success the past three seasons. These decisions are extremely difficult and Joe is one of the best men I’ve had the opportunity to work with in this league,” Lafleur said. #Packers announce Joe Barry’s departure. Paul Pierce Names 1 Star The Jazz Should Trade For

Image
(Photo by Arturo Holmes/Getty Images)   The Utah Jazz have been quietly assembling a strong, youthful roster and a ton of draft picks over the last few years. Are they about ready to spend them all and land another player to lead the team? Speaking on All The Smoke Productions, Paul Pierce proposed a potential trade that would really shake up the team. Pierce believes that Trae Young, currently of the Atlanta Hawks, would be a perfect fit in Utah. “I don’t like him Atlanta right now. They ain’t going nowhere,” Pierce said. He added: “You throw Trae Young in Utah right now, they’ll be a problem, wouldn’t they?” Should the @utahjazz be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline? @KevinGarnett5KG likes the momentum Utah has built up and @paulpierce34 has a star in mind for them to target. #TakeNote pic.twitter.com/XwxYJSyp3O — All the Smoke Productions (@allthesmokeprod) January 23, 2024 Pierce said that if Young makes his way to the Jazz, the team will resemble the D...

Tom Brady Uses 1 Word To Describe Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce

Image
(Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images)   The Kansas City Chiefs duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce has been one of the best quarterback-tight end pairings in recent NFL history. The two are headed to their sixth consecutive AFC Championship Game after connecting on two touchdowns in the divisional round win over the Buffalo Bills this past weekend, and will now face the Baltimore Ravens in the conference title match. In doing so, the pair also broke the record for most playoff touchdowns by a duo set by another legendary quarterback and tight end: New England Patriots legends Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. This moment didn’t pass Brady by without a comment from the GOAT himself, who called Mahomes and Kelce “BEASTS” in a social media post on Monday. BEASTS. When you one up gronk you’re doing something right. https://t.co/s0Cbmxsbwd — Tom Brady (@TomBrady) January 22, 2024 The numbers speak for themselves and Mahomes and Kelce are undoubtedly the Brady and Gronkowski ...

Spurs’ Staff Reportedly Has A Strict Order With Victor Wembanyama

Image
(Photo by Jess Rapfogel/Getty Images)   During his first year in the NBA, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs has made quite an impact. His team might still be in bad shape but he is proving himself to be the sort of rookie who could someday be an NBA legend. Wembanyama is clearly very dedicated to being his best and a new piece of information from Mike Monroe confirms that. According to Legion Hoops, Monroe found out that staff members of the Spurs have been advised to never call Wembanyama after 9:30 p.m. Apparently, Wembanyama uses that time to read for an hour and then fall asleep. Eagles Have Reportedly Made A Decision About Brian Johnson

Image
(Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images)   The Philadelphia Eagles floundered at the end of the 2023 season on both offense and defense before bowing out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round. The team got off to a hot start but looked nothing like the squad that made the Super Bowl a year ago after Philadelphia lost its offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs this past offseason. Continuity won’t prevail for the Eagles in 2024, though, after the team let go of defensive coordinator Sean Desai and defensive assistant Matt Patricia and now reportedly won’t bring back offensive coordinator Brian Johnson either, according to NFL reporter Derrick Gunn. All indications are Brian Johnson will not be returning as the Eagles OC …. Jaguars Have Hired A New Defensive Coordinator

Image
(Photo by Sam Greenwood/Getty Images)   The Jacksonville Jaguars flamed out at the end of the 2023 regular season with a horrific loss to the Tennessee Titans that cost them both the AFC South title and a playoff berth. While there were many causes for the Jaguars’ collapse, the team’s defense was perhaps the biggest issue during Jacksonville’s 1-5 finish to the season. The team fired defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell soon after the season ended and has already found a replacement in former Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Dan Orlovsky Names The NFL Team He Is Rooting For Today

Image
(Photo by Carmen Mandato/Getty Images)   After beating the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round, the Detroit Lions now face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a chance to advance to the NFC Championship game. The Lions have been a rising team the past few seasons under head coach Dan Campbell and are in a position to capture their first Super Bowl championship. Detroit has the talent to make some real noise if they’re able to beat Tampa Bay, but their opponents won’t go down so easily. The Buccaneers rebounded quickly in the wake of Tom Brady’s retirement and are a sneaky threat in the NFC because of their offensive talent. Baker Mayfield has turned heads this year as Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback and is playing arguably the best football of his life. Dan Orlovsky has been complimentary of Mayfield previously but made it clear who he’s rooting for via his personal Twitter account. “ Love Baker Today I pull for the @Lions,” Orlovsky tweeted. J.J. Redick Details How 1 NBA Player Is On A Historic Pace

Image
(Photo by Jamie Schwaberow/Getty Images)   Just months after winning his first MVP trophy, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers has somehow gotten even better. The big man is averaging 35.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game, all startling numbers. On The Old Man & The Three, J.J. Redick spoke about where Embiid ranks in the history of the NBA. Redick noted that only one player in league history has averaged 35-10-5 for an NBA season: Wilt Chamberlain in the early 1960s. However, during that time, Chamberlain averaged 46 minutes per game compared to Embiid’s 34 minutes in 2023-24. Plus, back then, teams took 99 field goal attempts and 35 free throws while today’s teams on average shoot 89 field goal attempts and 23 free throws. In short, Embiid is doing more with less time, meaning he is much more productive and efficient. “The production and efficiency that Joel is having right now is all time,” Redick said. Joel Embiid is unstoppable. His production...

Sean McDermott Reveals Stefon Diggs’ Status For Playoff Game

Image
(Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/Getty Images)   The Buffalo Bills were quite concerned about Stefon Diggs at the beginning of the season. There was a lot of drama surrounding the star wide receiver, who seemed livid at the organization after another failed postseason trip. His brother Trevon even urged the team to trade him, and he was visually upset with his situation. So, what has been a tough season for the former star could get even worse, as he’s dealing with a foot injury that has kept him off the field in practice this week. Nonetheless, Josh Palmer of the NFL Network reveals that HC Sean McDermott is still optimistic about having him on the field for the AFC Divisional Roud vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. Shannon Sharpe Makes His Thoughts Clear On Anthony Davis

Image
(Photo by Katelyn Mulcahy/Getty Images)   During Wednesday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers scored 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists. This was just his latest strong game and many people have been wowed by what they’ve seen from Davis in 2023-24. Speaking on “Nightcap,” Shannon Sharpe said this is the version of Davis that he’s been waiting for. “This is the Anthony Davis that we need to see,” Sharpe said to Gilbert Arenas. this is the AD the Lakers need @ShannonSharpe @GilsArenaShow pic.twitter.com/6kuDohqQG9 — Nightcap (@NightcapShow_) January 18, 2024 Sharpe noted that Davis has stayed healthy all season long and has missed a very small number of games, which is a welcome change for fans of the team. The numbers back up Sharpe’s claim. Davis is averaging 25.2 points and 12.2 rebounds a game this season. He is also putting up 2.5 blocks per game and is shooting 55.5% from the field. He is also nailing 32.6...

Chris Russo Names His Top-5 Suffering NFL Fan Bases

Image
(Photo by Dave Kotinsky/Getty Images for SiriusXM )   It’s not easy to win in the National Football League. A lot of things have to come into place for a team to go the distance. A solid front office, good decisions, a sound coaching staff, health, and even some luck. Unfortunately, some teams just haven’t been able to catch a break throughout the course of their history. They’ve either failed to get back to their glory days, or those days have never come at all. With that in mind, and now that we’ve seen the first teams get eliminated from the playoffs, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo put together his list of the top-five suffering NFL fan bases (via First Take). Nick Wright Says 1 NFL Team Is A ‘Team Of Destiny’

Image
(Photo by Bryan M. Bennett/Getty Images)   The third time could be the charm for the Buffalo Bills. For the third time in the Patrick Mahomes-Josh Allen era, these teams will square off in the AFC playoffs for a shot at glory. Andy Reid’s team has had the last laugh in the two prior meetings, but the game will now be played at Highmark Stadium, and that’s no minor difference. On top of that, the Bills are a team on the rise, while the reigning Super Bowl champions haven’t looked as sharp this season. That’s why NFL analyst Nick Wright believes people shouldn’t sleep on Sean McDermott’s team this time, as they are “a team of destiny.” "You guys are underrating the Bills right now. Knicks Are Reportedly Fielding Trade Offers For Veteran

Image
(Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images)   The New York Knicks have a bit of a curse. Not many players are able to land extensions on their rookie contracts, and that lack of continuity has often hurt the team. They’ve either failed to find and develop good talent or to hold onto it, and there’s no wonder why they’ve had a hard time getting back to the mountaintop. Notably, that very same thing could happen to them again this season. According to Fred Katz of The Athletic, Tom Thibodeau’s team is currently shopping G Quentin Grimes (via NBA Central): “The Knicks are coming to a crossroads with Grimes, who is eligible after the season for an extension off his rookie-scale contract, the same type of deal that Quickley could have received but did not in 2023. Of course, New York flipped Quickley to Toronto,” Katz reported. The Knicks are actively fielding offers for Quentin Grimes, per @FredKatz “The Knicks are coming to a crossroads with Grimes, who is eligible after the seaso...

(Photo by Larry Radloff/Icon Sportswire)   The Green Bay Packers may have won the biggest game of the season, but they lost one of their key defensive pieces.
