The Green Bay Packers dodged a bullet in Week 11. Running back Josh Jacobs left the win against the New York Giants after injuring his knee on the infamous turf at MetLife Stadium.

Despite early concern, it was revealed that Jacobs didn’t suffer any structural damage. As such, he has a chance to play against the Minnesota Vikings, and head coach Matt LaFleur revealed the Packers’ plan for Jacobs in Week 12.

“The plan is to try to get him healthy enough to go. It’s gonna be a day-by-day thing and we’ll see how he progresses as the week unfolds,” LaFleur said.

This makes sense, especially considering that the Packers are about to face a physical and hard-hitting defense. They need to think about the big picture, and they need him to be on the field in Week 13 for their key NFC North matchup against the Detroit Lions.

The Packers should have enough to get past Minnesota without Jacobs, given that their shaky offensive line hasn’t done much to create running lanes anyway. So whoever plays may find the same success as Jacobs.

Emanuel Wilson has looked solid as the backup, and Green Bay could give Chris Brooks more playing time, considering his pass-protection skills and reliable hands. However, their best bet might be to let quarterback Jordan Love be the focal point. The Packers need to exploit the vertical passing game, and there’s no need to rush Jacobs back on the field before he’s back to full strength.
