Patriots Named Among Teams Looking To Address Key Position

The New England Patriots lost one of their key offensive players.

Running back Antonio Gibson is out for the season because of an injury, and given Rhamondre Stevenson’s never-ending issues with ball security, they might want to get a replacement.

That’s why it’s not a surprise to see they might be interested in trading for one.

“NFL executives named the Patriots ‘among teams that could look to add a back,’ such as [New York] Jets RB Breece Hall, ahead of the trade deadline, per Jeremy Fowler,” Carlos A. Lopez wrote on X.

The Jets may not want to trade Hall to an AFC East rival, even though he’s about to become a free agent.

With rookie TreVeyon Henderson already there, the Patriots might only be interested in acquiring Hall as a rental.

Truth be told, it might make more sense to put the ball in Henderson’s hands.

He was projected as one of the best running backs in a stacked 2025 NFL Draft class.

However, it looks like head coach Mike Vrabel still isn’t ready to commit to the rookie, as he’s been non-committal when asked whether he’s going to get him more involved.

To be fair, Henderson hasn’t made the most of his limited opportunities.

Whatever the case, the Patriots have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season, and Vrabel likes to establish the run, so it makes sense that they might want to add an established veteran.

They will face some steep competition, as Hall will be linked to multiple teams before the trade deadline.
