The Green Bay Packers made a big splash when they signed running back Josh Jacobs before last season.

He’s been a star from the moment he arrived, and that should continue to be the case for years to come.

However, his backup is an unsung hero.

Following the Packers’ Week 8 road win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, analyst Zach Kruse praised the RB2.

“Emanuel Wilson is one of the team’s most underrated players. Just a consistently efficient football player,” Zach Kruse wrote on X.

Wilson had 11 carries for 65 yards, averaging 5.5 yards per carry and breaking loose for a 15-yard gain and delivering a game-sealing first down.

That was much better than Jacobs’ average of 2.5 yards per carry, with 13 attempts for 33 yards.

Wilson was also targeted four times in the passing game and had three receptions for 26 yards.

Wilson likely isn’t going to take the starting job from Jacobs, but the fact that they were close to splitting carries is a testament to how much the team values him.

For the season, the third-year pro has 35 carries for 162 yards, an average of 4.6 yards per attempt.

He also has eight catches on nine targets for 57 yards.

Jacobs has made strides as a pass catcher, but with Wilson’s steady hands and breakaway ability, he might be better suited for the Packers’ two-minute offense and obvious passing situations going forward.

Green Bay will host the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 before facing the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.
