Justin Herbert led the Los Angeles Chargers to a commanding 37-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football, bouncing back from a two-game losing streak with one of his sharpest performances of the season.

The quarterback threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns while looking composed and in control throughout the contest.

His play reinforced why he remains one of the league’s most talented signal-callers despite the Chargers’ inconsistent start to the year.

Herbert also made history during the win. On his second pass of the night, a 17-yard connection with Keenan Allen in the first quarter, he surpassed Hall of Famer Peyton Manning’s completion total through six seasons.

“And just like that… Justin Herbert has more completions than any player in NFL history in their first 6 seasons,” Ryan DePaul shared on X.

The throw gave Herbert 2,129 career completions, setting a new NFL record for the most by any player in their first six years.

The milestone came one play after Herbert narrowly avoided a costly interception by Isaiah Rodgers that could have been returned for a touchdown.

Instead, Herbert shook off the close call and delivered the record-breaking completion.

His performance extended beyond the passing game as well, with Herbert adding 62 rushing yards and showing increased comfort scrambling when pockets collapsed.

With this outing, Herbert became the first quarterback this season to eclipse 2,000 passing yards.

His efficiency and adaptability have kept the Chargers’ offense functional despite ongoing injuries along the offensive line.

Through eight weeks, Herbert sits well above the benchmark, and his dual-threat ability continues separating him in a league still searching for consistency at the position.
