The Dallas Cowboys delivered a commanding 44-22 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, with Dak Prescott leading the charge in dominant fashion.

The veteran quarterback completed 21 of 30 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns in one of his sharpest performances this season.

Despite his consistency, Prescott’s efforts have frequently been overshadowed by a defense that has struggled to meet expectations.

He has started generating MVP buzz, but not everyone appears ready to acknowledge his contributions.

Colin Cowherd addressed that disconnect during Monday’s episode of The Herd.

“He’s 9th in MVP odds. That’s insane! He’s got to be near the top. I always thought he was the classic sort of… high floor, low ceiling quarterback,” Cowherd said on The Herd.

Cowherd’s assessment carries weight when considering the circumstances Prescott faces each week.

With an offensive line that remains inconsistent and a defense that has underperformed throughout stretches of the season, Prescott continues taking the field and producing at a high level.

His recent stretch has placed him in elite company among NFL quarterbacks.

Prescott has now thrown at least three touchdowns without an interception in four consecutive games.

That streak is shared only with Russell Wilson in 2015, Drew Brees in 2019, Aaron Rodgers in 2014, Peyton Manning from 2013 to 2014, and Tom Brady in 2007.

Through seven games in 2025, the former Mississippi State standout has totaled 16 touchdowns against just three interceptions.

Those numbers reflect an offense capable of redefining the Cowboys’ ceiling late in the year.

Sunday’s performance only strengthened the case that Prescott is operating as one of the league’s premier quarterbacks right now.

There is little question he is playing at an MVP-caliber level, though his standing in that race will likely depend on how far Dallas advances this season.

With Prescott sitting ninth in MVP odds, the question remains what more he must do to climb higher.
