The NFL coaching carousel demands quick results, and first-year New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is discovering that reality firsthand.

New York stands as the league’s only winless team through seven weeks, and the mounting pressure has sparked speculation about his future.

The Jets dropped to 0-7 after a frustrating 13-6 home loss to the Panthers in Week 7, marking their third winless start through seven games in three decades.

Analyst Brandon Tierney recently outlined the delicate position Glenn now occupies as he tries to maintain credibility with both his locker room and the outside world.

“I thought Aaron at least had to show of willingness to mix it up for the rest of the guys in the locker room, if he wants to have any chance of succeeding in year 2 or maybe beyond. And now, he’s going to have to do the dance properly, the rest of the way, with the media. And if he stumbles too much and it becomes overly and unnecessarily contentious, there’s a chance AG’s done after one year,” Tierney said on WFAN Sports Radio.

Jets history suggests early struggles rarely lead to long tenures.

Glenn joins Rich Kotite and Adam Gase as the only coaches to guide New York to such a dismal beginning, and both predecessors were gone within a year.

Kotite’s 1996 squad started 0-8 before finishing 1-15, prompting ownership to hire Bill Parcells, who took the team to the AFC title game two years later.

More recently, Adam Gase’s 2020 team opened 0-13 and finished 2-14, leading to his dismissal and Robert Saleh’s eventual hiring.

Glenn faces similar scrutiny despite being a rookie head coach.

The loss of cornerback Sauce Gardner hasn’t helped matters, though Glenn still has sufficient talent to compete.

Several close losses suggest the Jets aren’t far from turning things around.

If Glenn can guide New York to match or exceed last season’s 5-12 mark under Saleh, he might secure his position for 2026.
