Timberwolves Reportedly ‘Working Towards’ Retiring NBA Legend’s Jersey

The Minnesota Timberwolves recently revealed that they’d be using throwback jerseys in the new season.

But that’s not the only way they will celebrate their past in the new year.

According to Evan Sidery, the T-Wolves are working towards retiring Kevin Garnett’s jersey in 2025-26.

“The Timberwolves are working towards having Kevin Garnett’s No. 21 jersey officially retired this season. New ownership wants to properly honor a franchise icon. With Minnesota bringing back their legendary uniforms, Garnett could finally see his number raised to the rafters,” Sidery posted on X.

This would be a long time coming for Garnett, who remains one of the most important Timberwolves players of all time.

He came to the team as the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft and immediately made an impact on the team.

He put up 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds during his rookie year, but that was just the beginning.

His final average in Minnesota after 14 seasons was 19.8 points and 11.0 rebounds.

He was praised for his skills and tenacity and helped put the Timberwolves on the map.

Even after he left for the Boston Celtics, Garnett was still viewed as a vital member of Minnesota history.

Now, all these years later, the team is trying to do the right thing by giving him the celebration and respect he deserves.

If Garnett’s jersey is retired this year, it’ll be one of the biggest events of the season for the Timberwolves.

Many stars and fans will be in attendance to applaud “The Big Ticket” and all he did for Minnesota.
