The Philadelphia 76ers just held their media day, meaning that players and coaches were able to talk to the press and speak about plans for 2025-26.

Head coach Nick Nurse touched upon many things during his appearance before the media, including the introduction of incoming rookie VJ Edgecombe.

Talking about what Edgecombe will bring to the team, Nurse spoke about his versatility.

“I could see VJ for instance playing some 1, and also playing some 3,” Nurse said of Edgecombe.

Edgecombe might technically be a shooting guard, but it sounds like Nurse is going to ask more of him during his rookie campaign.

Nurse added that Edgecombe has been working on his shooting all summer and is hoping to instantly improve the team’s offense.

During his single season in college, he produced 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.

Edgecombe can be an offensive engine that keeps the team humming when he comes off the bench.

However, he might be more than just a bench player.

The 76ers are already having injury problems, which means they might have to shift the rotation and ask players to step up.

Edgecombe was the No. 3 pick in the draft, so he could be ready to jump into the starting five right away.

If Edgecombe is able to expand his horizons and provide depth from multiple positions, Nurse is going to give him a ton of minutes.

The 76ers had great plans for the young player when they drafted him, viewing him as someone who could provide multiple assets to the team.

Now it’s time to show what he can do throughout his rookie year.
