J.J. Redick Raves About Austin Reaves’ Offseason Progress

Over the last four years, Austin Reaves has become a huge part of the Los Angeles Lakers.

He started as an undrafted player who didn’t get more than a second glance from other teams, but is now holding his own alongside Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

Speaking about Reaves, Lakers head coach JJ Redick talked about his busy summer and how seriously he has taken his time off.

“Every day that he’s been in the gym, he’s been the best player in the gym… His body is really good right now. He’s really strong. His burst, his athleticism. It’s evident that he spent a lot of time working on his body this summer,” Redick said of Reaves.

Lakers fans are excited to see what Reaves can bring to the court in 2025-26.

There is a lot on the line for the 27-year-old star this year.

The Lakers will have to make a decision about Reaves soon because he will be demanding a new contract next summer, and it’ll be costly.

With the success he has found over the last several seasons, Reaves could fetch a huge deal with any number of teams.

The Lakers would have to pay handsomely to keep Reaves, which is something they may want to do.

Last year, he averaged 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists on 46.0 percent from the floor.

His numbers dropped off a bit in the playoffs, but Reaves is hoping to have a consistent year from beginning to end in 2025-26.

Other teams are keeping a close eye on Reaves, and he has been a target for other squads, such as the San Antonio Spurs and more.

The upcoming season will be a big one for Reaves because it’ll create his path to the future, either with the Lakers or another team.
