Insider Reveals Big Update About Quentin Grimes’ Contract Talks

It seemed like Quentin Grimes was coming back to the Philadelphia 76ers in the new season, but now people aren’t so sure.

In fact, Shams Charania is reporting that the Sixers and Grimes are “far apart” on a new deal with just days to go before media day and training camp.

“I’m told both of these sides are very far apart on a deal. It was the first time today that the Sixers made a formal hard offer to Grimes as a restricted free agent. Grimes will not be attending 76ers media day on Friday,” Charania said.

For those hoping for another season of Grimes in Philadelphia, this is nothing but bad news.

He’s only spent 28 games with the team so far, averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during that time.

He was a starter for all but three of those games, but it’s important to remember the state of the 76ers last season.

They were in bad shape and needed all the help they could get.

If Grimes did come back in 2025-26, he might see less time on the court, especially if Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Jared McCain stay healthy.

These two sides will need to change their views soon if they hope to create a contract.

The team is starting training camp soon, and they are making their plans for the new season.

The coaching staff needs to know what players will be available when Opening Night rolls around in a few weeks.

Right now, both sides aren’t budging, and that means Grimes might not be in Philadelphia.

Of course, something could change soon, and a deal could suddenly materialize.
