Rudy Gay recently said that the Memphis Grizzlies would have won a championship in 2013 had he remained on the team.

He knows that the Miami Heat were an unstoppable freight train, but he thinks the Grizzlies would have gotten in their way.

Now, Dwyane Wade is speaking out about Gay’s comments, and it’s clear that he doesn’t agree.

“You’re not just going to win the Finals because you think you can. We had just been there four years in a row. We’re smacking y’all. You don’t know how to win in the Finals, bro,” Wade said.

The Grizzlies were a promising squad at the time, but Wade doesn’t think they had what it took to win a title.

He looks back at his team and sees how they pushed all the way to the Finals for four years.

They won two of those championships, a back-to-back triumph that few others have accomplished, and that is part of the reason why Wade feels the Grizzlies wouldn’t have come close.

To his point, earning a title is about so much more than just wanting it.

It requires a complete team with a deep roster and experience in the postseason.

The Grizzlies had youth and great energy, but it wasn’t enough to compete with the Heat, according to Wade.

Wade is proud of everything the Heat did, and he still believes they were head-and-shoulders better than everyone else.

But other people, such as Gay, will push back against that and wonder about what could have been.

However, Wade isn’t interested in hypotheticals like this.
