It’s a season of change for the Phoenix Suns and Devin Booker.

The era of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal is over, and the franchise is ready to turn a corner.

The Durant-Beal chapter was started with the best of intentions, but Booker is now admitting that it was tough and didn’t work out as planned.

“This last couple years, it was win a championship or bust. We didn’t even make the Play-In. Definitely the toughest two years of my career,” Booker said.

Before Durant and Beal, Booker was the centerpiece of the Suns.

But when they came on board, that obviously changed.

Booker was all-in on his new teammates and, like everyone else, he felt they’d be key to turning the Suns into one of the best teams in the West.

They really did have their sights set on a championship and nothing short of that.

Of course, that didn’t happen, and it felt like everything was a struggle.

Now that it’s in the rear-view mirror, Booker is looking ahead and planning his next moves.

He is going to be the most important player in Phoenix again and is ready for the duties that come with that.

Last season, Booker averaged 25.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.

Those are great numbers, but they could actually tick up in the new season because the team will ask more of him.

The loss of Durant and Beal will shift more ball-handling responsibilities to Booker, and he is eager to get started.

Booker and everyone in Phoenix are hoping that the tough days are behind them.

They might not become championship contenders overnight, but the Suns want to be pointed in the right direction again.

Once again, Booker will be the one to lead his team.
