Dan Orlovsky Sends Message To Caleb Williams’ Critics

For the second time in as many years, the Chicago Bears were deemed one of the biggest winners of the NFL offseason.

Hiring Ben Johnson as head coach and adding some key pieces to the offense were encouraging, and with Caleb Williams entering his second season, the table was set for a big step forward.

Through two weeks, that hasn’t been the case.

Nevertheless, it’s too early to count out the young quarterback.

With that in mind, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky put Williams’ critics on blast.

“I need everybody to take a breath on Caleb Williams. Can we just give the young man until November? We gotta give him until November until we can actually evaluate is it gonna work or signs if it’s working with him and Ben Johnson in Chicago. It’s the second week of the season in a new offense. Everyone’s deciding right now if he’s going to be the player that everyone wants him to be. No one hears, ‘It’s gonna take time,'” Orlovksy said.

That makes sense, especially considering that Williams isn’t the only reason the Bears’ offense has yet to succeed.

For starters, the offensive line continues to be an issue.

There are communication problems, and those should improve over time.

Also, Johnson is a first-year head coach, and he’s learning the hard way that it’s a lot different than being an offensive coordinator.

Williams’ rookie season was essentially a waste after he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Bears had no business keeping head coach Matt Eberflus, which only hindered Williams’ development.

That said, he also needs to acknowledge areas for improvement and make better decisions, and that’s solely up to him.

Williams was one of the most hyped quarterback prospects in recent history, so it’s easy to understand the lack of patience.

But some players need a little more time to get used to the NFL.

Lakers Given Notable Odds To Make NBA Finals
