Vikings Receive Impressive Grade For Adam Thielen Trade

The Minnesota Vikings desperately needed a reliable pair of hands.

That’s why they turned to a familiar face.

As expected, they got back together with veteran WR Adam Thielen, who had been with the Carolina Panthers for the past couple of years.

With that in mind, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report gushed about this transaction, giving the Vikings an ‘A’ grade for the way they handled this issue:

“The deal brings Thielen back to Minnesota, where he spent the first nine years of his career. It was a logical move because the Vikings won’t have No. 2 receiver Jordan Addison for the first three games of the season due to a suspension. Thielen should quickly mesh with head coach Kevin O’Connell, who joined the franchise in the receiver’s final season before joining Carolina,” Knox wrote.

The Vikings will be without star WR Jordan Addison for the first three games of the season because of a suspension.

Justin Jefferson has missed some time during training camp with a hamstring injury, but he’s expected to be fully healthy for Week 1.

Thielen was born and raised in Minnesota and played collegiate football at Minnesota State before joining the Vikings as an undrafted free agent, so he was obviously on board with this reunion.

He ranks third all-time in receptions for the Vikings, trailing only the legendary Cris Carter and Randy Moss.

Of course, he’s not going to be the same 1,000-yard pass-catcher he was in his heyday, but if he can help this team hold down the fort in Addison’s absence, he will be more than worth the pickup.

Also, this might be his final season in the league, and being home for his farewell should be motivation enough for him to be at his best.

He’s a fan favorite and one of the best players in franchise history, and this was just a match made in heaven.
