The Minnesota Vikings have few question marks on their offense heading into the 2025 season, but the biggest is whether quarterback J.J. McCarthy can handle the starting job after missing his rookie year with a knee injury.

He will need plenty of support from the talented weapons he has around him, which is why an injury to star wide receiver Justin Jefferson has caused some concern.

“Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell has announced WR Justin Jefferson has a mild hamstring strain and will be held out of practice. Jefferson will be re-evaluated next week,” ESPN insider Adam Schefter wrote on X.

The Vikings are being cautious with Jefferson, as they should, because while it’s important for him to build chemistry with his new quarterback, any long-term injury would be devastating for McCarthy’s development and the team as a whole.

A mild hamstring strain at this time of the year shouldn’t be anything to worry about, as Jefferson has done more than enough to prove that, when healthy, he will be ready for Week 1.

Jefferson thrived last season with Sam Darnold at QB, playing in all 17 games and making 103 catches for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Vikings fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as Jefferson is likely to be back on the field well ahead of the season opener.
