Tyler Shough Reveals His Expectation For This Season

The New Orleans Saints are transitioning into a new era.

Derek Carr shockingly announced his retirement earlier in the offseason, and Kellen Moore will now take the reins after years of underperforming under Dennis Allen’s tutelage.

That leaves the door wide open for Tyler Shough to take the reins of the offense right out of the gate.

That’s why, when asked about his goals for his rookie season, the Louisville product opened up on having the same type of impact that Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix had last year (via Sleeper Saints):

“My expectation is to go out there and play at the highest level I can. You saw it from Bo Nix and Daniels last year. Why not? Why not go out there with everything that’s been preparing me for this? I’m not going to go out there all scared and to make mistakes. There’s going to be some ups and downs, but I’m going to give everything I can to try and make the team better,” Shough said.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that we see a rookie quarterback lead his team to the playoffs or help turn the franchise around.

Then again, it will be way easier said than done for Shough and the new-look Saints.

Granted, they have some interesting pieces on offense and an offensive-minded head coach who’s always been known for being creative.

Nevertheless, it will take much more for this team to be slightly competitive.

They’re projected to have either the worst or one of the worst records in the league, and for very good reasons.

Shough was one of the most polarizing quarterback prospects in this class.

Some claimed that he had the best arm in the class, and while the bar wasn’t high at all, that could still make him a bit of a steal.

Unfortunately, he’s also dealt with countless injuries, and he’s way older than the average rookie quarterback, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares.

Lakers Given Notable Odds To Make NBA Finals
