Former Player Believes 1 Prospect Is Giants’ ‘Quarterback Of The Future’

The New York Giants tried to trade for Matthew Stafford in the offseason, but to no avail.

Then, they made a run at Aaron Rodgers, who has yet to sign with a team.

Eventually, they signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson to revamp their QB room, so they clearly wanted a veteran gunslinger.

As much as that makes sense, given that Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen are reportedly on the hot seat and need to win right away, they also have to think about the future.

With that in mind, former NFL player Will Blackmon urged them to get their quarterback of the future with the No. 3 pick.

Talking on the NFL Network, he made a case for them to draft Shedeur Sanders:

“I feel like you have to go and get a quarterback at (no.) 3, and I do like Shedeur Sanders,” Blackmon said. “You do have to get your guy for the future because [the Giants] never had a chance to get their guy. So for me, it is vital that you find your quarterback for the future. And 3, I think is great value for Shedeur.”

Of course, taking a quarterback as high as No. 3 after spending so much money on two quarterbacks in the offseason might not be the wisest decision, but it could end up being the right one anyway.

Sanders flirted with the Giants and their fan base for years, and he seems tailor-made to be a star in New York City.

Strictly from a football perspective, he might not be the most explosive or entertaining player to watch, but teams could do a whole lot worse than him.

Whether he’s talented enough to be taken as high as No. 3 is an interesting debate, but positional value matters.

As much as Abdul Carter looks like a much better prospect, the fact of the matter is that the Giants might need Sanders more.

Lakers Given Notable Odds To Make NBA Finals
