49ers Announce Contract Extension With George Kittle
There’s plenty of uncertainty about the San Francisco 49ers’ future.
One thing’s for sure, though: It will include George Kittle.
The Niners just signed Kittle to a four-year contract extension that will keep him in the Bay Area through the 2029 season.
The deal will pocket him $76.4 million, including $40 million in guaranteed money.

While the salary-cap implications of the deal have yet to be disclosed, it’s safe to assume that it will reduce his previously scheduled cap hit of roughly $22 million.
The 31-year-old star tight end has had some injuries in the past, but he’s claimed that he intends to play ‘until the wheels fall off.’
Kittle is about to enter his ninth season in the league, all of them with the Niners, so he’s pretty close to joining the team’s very exclusive ten-year player list.
He’s coming off a strong season, as he led all tight ends in receiving yards (1,106) and yards per catch (14.2).
He was also tied for second in touchdowns (8), earning his sixth Pro Bowl nod and his fifth All-Pro selection.
He’s also one of just five tight ends to have at least four seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards, joining the likes of Travis Kelce (7), Rob Gronkowski, Jason Witten, and Tony Gonzalez (4).
If that wasn’t enough, Kittle trails only Kelce for the second-most receiving yards by any tight end in NFL history in his first eight seasons in the league (7,380).
Kittle is a staple of the organization and one of the best run-blockers at the position, and he’s inching closer to finishing his career with the team that drafted him.
