The NBA trade rumor mill is churning once again with a potential blockbuster looming in the future.

After a stint that has failed to deliver a championship, the Phoenix Suns reportedly are considering trading Kevin Durant.

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony recently weighed in on Durant’s potential next destination, making a compelling case for a homecoming scenario.

“KD to the [Washington] Wizards. I would like to see him in the Wizards,” Anthony said on his podcast, via NBACentral. “… End it back home. You ain’t gon’ go chase, you ain’t gon’ go with these other teams that’s out there. You already got your rings, go to the Wizards, bring the energy back to D.C. … Your family, your mom, friends there, go rekindle that fire back out there in D.C.”

The suggestion of Durant returning to his roots carries intriguing possibilities.

The Wizards have been methodically assembling pieces for their future, adding veterans Marcus Smart and Khris Middleton to play alongside promising young talents Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington.

Durant’s arrival would accelerate their timeline and inject immediate relevance back into the franchise.
