Brandon Staley Will Interview For New NFL Job On Sunday

Brandon Staley had a rough tenure with the Los Angeles Chargers during his tenure as their head coach from 2021 until 2023, and after being let go from the Chargers, he spent the 2024 season as the assistant head coach with the San Francisco 49ers.

A recent report revealed that Staley has an interview on Sunday for a job with a different organization.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared on X that New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore and his new front office are set to interview Staley for their vacant defensive coordinator position, while also interviewing Eagles quarterback coach Doug Nussmeier for the offensive coordinator opening.

Staley’s one year in San Francisco didn’t go according to plan, but the Chargers initially hired him due to his defensive acumen and fired him after surrendering 63 points to the lowly Las Vegas Raiders in 2023.

He’ll now potentially get a chance to remind the league why he was once thought of as one of the young defensive gurus of his generation.

He would be taking over a defense that ranked 19th in the NFL last season after giving up 23.4 points per game, though the defense will be returning a few veteran anchors in Cameron Jordan and Demario Davis, whose contracts both expire after the 2025 season.

What would really help this defense in 2025 is some improvement on offense, as the Saints ranked 24th in the NFL with just 19.9 points per game, a staggering number considering they scored 91 points over their first two games.

Hopefully, Kellen Moore’s offensive acumen will handle that, while he can potentially let Staley handle the other side of the ball.
