Draymond Green Reveals Why Kevin Durant Gets Disrespected

Kevin Durant has achieved so much during his NBA career but still doesn’t get the respect some people feel he deserves.

There are a lot of people who call him a bad leader or a ring chaser, and it’s not entirely clear why.

Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has an idea about why some fans don’t respect Durant.

Speaking with Melissa Rohlin of FOX Sports, Green said it’s all about the vibes that Durant gives off.

“He just gives you the bro next door vibes. I think that automatically makes everybody else comfortable, which also makes people disrespect him. They think, ‘Oh, he’s the bro next door.’ ‘No I’m not. I’m Kevin Durant,’” Green said, via Legion Hoops.

In other words, Durant doesn’t come across like an NBA superstar.

Instead, he comes across as just a regular guy everyone knows, someone who lives in your neighborhood and likes to play basketball.

Durant has always had a laid-back persona and seems more intent on practicing at home and hanging with close friends instead of going out, living a lavish lifestyle and indulging in being a celebrity.

He’s also not afraid of interacting with fans and giving his true opinion on hot-button issues.

Because of this, people view Durant as a normal guy, and normal guys can’t be explosive sports icons.

But that’s exactly what Durant is, and this year has proven it again.

Durant is averaging 26.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game on 52.2 percent shooting from the floor.

No matter what detractors think of him, Durant is unquestionably a huge talent and so much more than the “bro next door.”
