Dolphins Waived Veteran QB On Saturday

The Miami Dolphins have started to look more like themselves in the second half of the 2024 NFL season, though it might be too late as they sit at 6-7 with just four games left.

The Dolphins’ offense under head coach Mike McDaniel earned a reputation for being highly explosive, but that hasn’t been the case this season.

That largely has to do with Tua Tagovailoa’s health as the quarterback was forced to miss several games due to a concussion.

Since Tagovailoa’s return, though, the passing game has looked better despite some slight differences in target distribution.

Tagovailoa has done a better job of not putting himself in dangerous positions on the field, though investing in a quality backup is still a wise move for Miami.

With Tagovailoa healthy and Tyler Huntler as the backup, Miami recently made the decision to waive Skylar Thompson, a move it announced on X.

Thompson took over for Tagovailoa in Week 2 but found himself sidelined as well after suffering a rib injury in Week 3.

The 27-year-old will likely clear waivers and be eligible to find a new team, though it remains to be seen if anyone will be interested this season or going forward.
