Key Thunder Player Has Suffered An Injury

The Oklahoma City Thunder made some impressive, exciting moves in the summer but, sadly, they will be starting the new season without one of their biggest new recruits.

Shams Charania is reporting that Isaiah Hartenstein has suffered a “small, non-displaced fracture in his left hand in Tuesday’s preseason game.”

Hartenstein will be re-evaluated in five to six weeks, which means the Thunder will have to kick off 2024-25 without their new big man.

The Thunder signed Hartenstein in July and gave him a three-year, $87 million deal.

They intended to have Hartenstein be their starting big man in the new season and many fans believe he will fill a big hole they had in the frontcourt.

The Thunder were great at many things last season but they had a hard time with effective rebounding, and Hartenstein was going to fix that.

Last season, he averaged 7.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

The Thunder will get by without Hartenstein but they are hoping he is ready to go once his injury is healed.

They have big plans and large expectations for the new season and he is a central part of their wishes.

Sadly, this isn’t the only injury plaguing the Thunder right now.

Jaylin Williams is currently out with hamstring problems, and Kenrich Williams is recovering from knee surgery.

Thankfully, the team has a deep roster and success is still possible even with these problems.

Thunder fans were elated to see what Hartenstein could do for the team but they will have to wait a bit longer to witness his talents during the regular season.
