Tom Thibodeau Hints At Julius Randle’s Role This Season
What will the New York Knicks do with Julius Randle in the 2024-25 season?
The three-time All-Star has been an important member of the team for a few years but the squad has recently undergone an identity change without him.
That has some people wondering what’s ahead for Randle and the Knicks.
Speaking with Steve Aschburner, per Ian Begley, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau revealed his plans for Randle in the new season.
“We could see Julius more at the five,” Thibodeau said.
He went on: “I don’t want to do that for long stretches, it would take its toll, but to have him do it for 10 or 15 minutes, I think he can do it well. He also would create a lot of [offensive] advantages.”

At six-foot-eight, Randle is built like a center and has played that role in the past, but he is typically more comfortable as a power forward.
However, while the Knicks have a lot of things, they are running low on frontcourt talent and they may need Randle to play center a bit more often.
They recently lost Isaiah Hartenstein, who made an impact during the team’s recent run in the playoffs.
Without him, the Knicks will turn their eyes to Randle more often – but is he up for the challenge?
Randle is coming off his latest injury and hasn’t played a game with his team in months.
During his postseason absence, the Knicks were able to create a rotation that worked for them, even without Randle.
So, how will he fit in?
There are many questions about the Knicks but most people agree they could do big things in 2024-25.
