The Pittsburgh Steelers made the decision to trade for former Bears quarterback Justin Fields earlier this offseason.

This came after they signed veteran Russell Wilson to a one-year deal.

As the offseason has moved along, Fields has gotten more familiar with the way things work in Pittsburgh but is still set to be the team’s backup behind Wilson.

Fields has reportedly struggled during training camp, and Fox Sports’s Colin Cowherd recently gave his take on the former first-round pick.

“The ability for a QB to feel the game and see the game. This has been my knock on Justin Fields,” Cowherd said on The Herd.

Fields was not able to succeed in Chicago.

It was not entirely his fault because the play-calling and the personnel around him was not consistent enough.

But, the former Ohio State Buckeye was not able to do his part, which was playing good football.

He threw 40 touchdowns and 30 interceptions with the Bears.

In games that he started, the Bears had a record of 10-28.

In Pittsburgh, he should have the opportunity to see how a winning quarterback and a winning organization operate.

Fields didn’t necessarily sit behind any quarterbacks that came close to the caliber of Russell Wilson.

Mostly a runner, Fields should have the opportunity to work on his game when it comes to passing the ball.
