Dan Orlovsky Says Giants Should Prepare For Life Without Daniel Jones

The New York Giants looked like a team that was going in the right direction.

Brian Daboll took the team to the playoffs in his first season in charge of the team, even getting a win on the road.

While his numbers were far from impressive, Daniel Jones had the best year of his career with Daboll calling the shots, so the fans were optimistic about his development, especially considering he had a somewhat similar build to Josh Allen, who had already excelled with Daboll at the helm.

Needless to say, that wasn’t the case at all last season.

He wasn’t good at all when healthy, and he missed a ton of games with injuries.

Considering that, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky believes the Giants should ‘absolutely’ prepare for life without him.

“The Giants should absolutely be planning for a life post-Daniel Jones,” Orlovsky said.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, he explained that he’s taken as many hits — if not more — than Lamar Jackson, who has often been criticized for his reckless style of play and putting his body in harm’s way.

He thinks that Jones hasn’t done enough to guarantee that he’s a franchise-caliber player even when he’s on the field, so it’s only natural that the Giants consider all their options at QB.

Then again, he believes the Giants aren’t in a position to go all-in to trade up and get, say, Drake Maye in the NFL Draft, as they’re not just one quarterback away from being a good team, and they need to fill a lot of holes, so they should only get him if he falls into their laps at No. 6.
