The Los Angeles Lakers only got four games from newcomer Gabe Vincent before a knee injury pulled him from the floor.

He hasn’t played since mid-November but he could be returning to the team soon.

According to Shams Charania, via Daniel Starkand, the Lakers are hopeful that Vincent will suit up again on December 18, just one week away.

If Vincent does return on that night, that will have him squaring off against the New York Knicks (although Starkand’s initial tweet mistakenly said the Kings would be his opponent).

Fans of the Lakers will be happy to see Vincent back because they want a fully healthy roster, but they are curious about what he will bring to the team.

When he was acquired by the Lakers during the summer, it was just weeks after a strong playoff run with the Miami Heat.

During that Cinderella run in Miami, Vincent averaged 12.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.

He had a field goal percentage of 40.2% and a three-point percentage of 37.8% during that time.

So far, that isn’t the version of Vincent that the Lakers have seen.

He is averaging only 6 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists per game.

The most glaring change between last season and this one is that Vincent is only shooting 7.1% from the three-point line.

The Lakers have had problems with three-pointers for much of the season and Vincent hasn’t helped.

In short, he isn’t performing like the playoff superstar he was last year.

Vincent has spent some time off the floor because of his injury but perhaps he has also invested energy into perfecting his shot.

If so, he may come back to the team with an improved shooting percentage, which would be very welcome.
