When it rains, it pours for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The team seemed way on its way to making the playoffs, but dropping three games in a row may have sealed their fate.

Notably, the team has failed to win a single game since losing Kenny Pickett to an ankle injury, losing to the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, and Indianapolis Colts.

Unfortunately, HC Mike Tomlin recently confirmed that Pickett won’t be able to play this week either, according to Bridget Condon of the NFL Network.

Now, it’ll be up to Mason Rudolph to lead the way for the Black and Gold, making his first start since 2021.

Mitch Trubisky had taken the reins of the offense sans Pickett, but after going 0-3, it became more than evident that there needed to be a change of regime.

The Steelers will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in a divisional matchup that could have huge postseason implications for both teams, and the AFC postseason race continues to be one for the ages.

There was a time when the fans thought Rudolph was going to be Ben Roethlisberger’s successor, and while he failed to live up to those expectations, all the team needs from him is a good game right now.

A loss would pretty much finish their postseason hopes, and there would be no point in rushing Pickett back to the field.

A win, on the other hand, would allow Pickett to stay on the shelf for another week to try and test the ankle for another must-win clash.
