After a 2022 campaign that resulted in them making the playoffs for the first time since 2016, the 2023 season hasn’t been as promising for the New York Giants.

The Giants and their fans felt like their performance in 2022 was going to continue to be the norm, with head coach Brian Daboll and quarterback Daniel Jones leading the way.

Well, New York currently has a 4-8 record this season, and before suffering a significant knee injury, Jones’ development as an NFL quarterback was not headed in the right direction.

Despite the signal-caller’s struggles earlier this year, Giants general manager Joe Schoen revealed on Monday that he still has confidence in Jones being the team’s starting quarterback when he returns from his knee injury in 2024 (via Giants Videos on Twitter).

In 2022, Jones finished with a career-high 92.5 passer rating after completing 67.2 percent of his passes for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just five interceptions while also rushing for 708 yards and another seven scores.

Before his injury this season, the quarterback’s passer rating had dropped all the way to 70.5, he averaged almost 50 fewer passing yards per game than he did in 2022, he only threw two touchdowns compared to six interceptions, and he only had one rushing touchdown.

When the 2023 campaign comes to a conclusion in February, New York is probably going to have one of the top selections in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Will that pick end up being used on a young quarterback prospect, or will the Giants give Jones at least one more full season to prove that he can be the franchise’s long-term answer under center?
