With the New York Giants losing Daniel Jones for more than a year and several questions about his future with the organization, most people believe they’re going to pursue a quarterback in the upcoming edition of the NFL Draft.

Considering their record and the fact that they’re likely to pick in the top five, that should be their approach.

Notably, Giants GM Joe Schoen didn’t rule out that possibility, stating that the team will take the best player available when they’re on the clock (via Talkin’ Giants).

This shouldn’t be much of a surprise.

Still, some people would’ve expected Schoen to make it loud and clear that they don’t intend to replace Jones and that he’s going to be their quarterback for the future, even if he’s forced to miss the first half of next season.

This speaks volumes of the team’s assessment of Jones’ struggles this season.

The Giants signed Jones to a huge contract in the offseason, with $80 million fully guaranteed over the first couple of seasons.

He regressed vastly from his career-best year, up to the point where it seemed like HC Brian Daboll was starting to lose his patience.

And after watching both Tyrod Taylor and undrafted rookie QB Tommy DeVito fare better than him, it’s no surprise that the Giants are having second thoughts about the Duke product.

With the likes of Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, Drake Maye, Jaden Daniels, and Michael Penix Jr. all available in the first round, the Giants would be wise to get their next franchise QB in late April.
