USC Head Coach Provides An Update On Bronny James’ Status

The NBA world was shocked in July when Bronny James, son of LeBron James, suffered cardiac arrest during a workout.

James, who is a freshman at USC, received immediate medical help and reports say he has made a full recovery.

But questions still remain about what’s next for him.

According to Luca Evans, USC basketball coach Andy Enfield said that James is “doing very well” at school, going to his classes, and earning “excellent” grades.

However, James missed out on the basketball team’s first practice of the season and there hasn’t been an official announcement about his return.

Enfield said that James is “around the team when he can be” which makes it sound like it’ll be some time before he’s back with the squad full-time.

Obviously, James and his doctors will only permit a return to the court when there is no chance of any recurring issues with his health.

USC will be happy to have him back when he is ready.

This actually isn’t the first time a player at the school suffered cardiac arrest on the court.

Vincent Iwuchukwu was hospitalized in July of 2022 after experiencing the same heart problems.

Thankfully, he also made a full recovery and was back on the court in January.

Does that incident indicate that James will also be ready to play around the holidays?

It’s not clear but James is obviously intending to play again, both in college and beyond.

He suffered a very scary health crisis but there is still every reason to believe that James will be an important part of USC basketball and even the NBA.
