Reporter Notes Expectations For Deandre Ayton In Portland

Image
(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)   Believe it or not, Deandre Ayton just had one of his best seasons since entering the NBA . His 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 1.7 assists a game are some of the greatest statistics of his career. However, many people noted that he didn’t seem very happy playing for the Phoenix Suns, and most thought he was hoping for a trade. Now that he’s with the Portland Trail Blazers, expectations are high for Ayton. According to Vince Goodwill, via NBACentral, the view around the rest of the NBA is that the Blazers see Ayton “in the vein of a top-five center in the league.” The view around the league is the Blazers see Deandre Ayton in the vein of a top-five center in the league, per @VinceGoodwill pic.twitter.com/1WD37N8G99 — NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) September 30, 2023 Now you can understand why the Blazers were so eager to get Ayton in the massive Damian Lillard trade deal. Carlos Rodon Had A Nightmare Finish To His 2023 Season

Image
(Photo by Ed Zurga/Getty Images)   The New York Yankees have always been an organization willing to spend money. In the past offseason, the Yankees made a bold move by signing starting pitcher Carlos Rodon. He was one of the best pitchers in baseball during the 2022 season. Rodon finished sixth in the National League Cy Young voting and had a 2.88 ERA over 31 starts. That is the player the Yankees hoped they were getting. Rodon signed a six-year deal with the Yankees and many thought they were getting another ace. But, that has not been the case. Rodon has been abysmal in his first season in New York. He capped off a terrible season with one of his worst starts on Friday. As noted by Talkin’ Baseball, Rodon gave up eight earned runs without recording an out. He surrendered six hits and walked two batters. Carlos Rodón tonight: 0 IP, 8 ER, 6 H, 0 SO, 2 BB, 35 P He finishes his first season as a Yankee with a 6.86 ERA in 14 starts. Insider Reveals Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Role In Lillard Trade

Image
(Photo by Alex Goodlett/Getty Images)   Giannis Antetokounmpo is the cornerstone superstar of the Milwaukee Bucks . Despite leading the Bucks to the NBA title in 2021, Giannis was very vocal about needing a better roster around him to lead the organization to potentially another championship. The Bucks responded by pairing Antetokounmpo with Damian Lillard via a blockbuster trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. Considering Giannis’ recent comments about his future with the Bucks, many expected that he played a great role in pushing the Bucks into trading for Lillard. However, per NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski via NBA on ESPN on Twitter, the Greek Freak played no role in the Bucks trading for Dame. “Directly, he literally played no role,” Woj said. Analyst Says Bucks Aren’t A Superteam With Damian Lillard

Image
(Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images)   The Milwaukee Bucks are in a strong position to return to the NBA Finals now that they have Damian Lillard. Since the Lillard trade, tons of NBA fans have been questioning if the Bucks can be categorized as a “superteam.” Speaking on “The Carton Show,” Plaxico Burress got into a heated debate about that. He said the Bucks are not a superteam. “Giannis is super. Dame is super. But you cannot sit there and say that Khris Middleton is one of the top five players in his position,” Burress said. (Photo by Arturo Holmes/Getty Images)   The Houston Rockets were busy during this offseason as they made multiple acquisitions for the roster. The two most important free-agent signings by the Rockets were Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. VanVleet signed a three-year, $130 million deal with the Rockets, making him the highest-paid player on the team for the 2023-24 season. Speaking of VanVleet, the official Twitter handle of the Rockets recently shared a video of his workout in the team facility. . @FredVanVleet is in the building. we repeat, @FredVanVleet is in. the. building. pic.twitter.com/wPFE26a4FG — Houston Rockets (@HoustonRockets) September 27, 2023 VanVleet looked sharp in the workout as he prepares to potentially lead the Rockets back to the playoffs. Bucks Reveal Damian Lillard’s Jersey Number

Image
(Photo by Patrick McDermott/Getty Images)   Whenever an NBA player changes teams, fans often wonder if they’ll change numbers as well. That was the case when they heard about Damian Lillard’s shocking trade to the Milwaukee Bucks. However, that’s not going to happen, as the Bucks have already confirmed that Lillard will wear his usual No. 0 jersey, just like he did with the Portland Trail Blazers. https://t.co/u796UkBb7x — Milwaukee Bucks (@Bucks) September 28, 2023 Lillard’s trade put an end to months of rumors and speculation. The Blazers may have wanted to prove a point by not sending him to his preferred destination, the Miami Heat. Nonetheless, they still did right by him by sending him to an arguably better team, thus giving him a better chance to win an NBA championship. Lillard’s jerseys will most likely fly off the shelves in no time. He’s always been a fan favorite around the league, even by non-Blazers fans. Fans urged him to leave Rip City for years ...

Fans React To Blockbuster Damian Lillard Trade

Image
(Photo by Steph Chambers/Getty Images)   The NBA landscape had some major movement on Wednesday afternoon. That is because the prolonged Damian Lillard saga has finally come to a close. In a blockbuster three-team trade, the Portland Trail Blazers agreed to send Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks for a package of players. This was a deal that no one saw coming. Many people thought if Lillard were to be traded he would be headed to the Miami Heat. Instead, he heads to Milwaukee and now they are the new favorites to win the Eastern Conference. You can bet a ton of NBA fans are lost for words after seeing this trade. WHAT IN THE WORLD — alterNate (@herobasketball) September 27, 2023 Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo are arguably the top duo in basketball. Their games mesh perfectly with one another. Giannis is a great interior scorer and defensive player, while Lillard is one of the best shooters in the NBA. Unreal. Shocked. This team was never in the convos previous...

Terry Francona Will Have A Final Sendoff Wednesday

Image
(Photo by Norm Hall/Getty Images)   While Cleveland Guardians manager Terry Francona hasn’t made it official, it’s a league-wide assumption that he will retire when the season is over. The season, for the Guardians, will be over on Sunday in Detroit. However, they get to play one last time in front of their fans on Wednesday, against the Cincinnati Reds. It will be a perfect occasion to say goodbye to one of the most influential managers in Guardians history. Recurring health issues are forcing Francona to retire even though he is still one of the best managers in MLB. But he has to put his wellbeing first. The world of baseball understands that, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be missed. A true clubhouse leader with proven success, Francona will get to say goodbye in front of the fans that have given him so much love and support through the years. USC Head Coach Provides An Update On Bronny James’ Status

Image
(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)   The NBA world was shocked in July when Bronny James, son of LeBron James, suffered cardiac arrest during a workout. James, who is a freshman at USC, received immediate medical help and reports say he has made a full recovery. But questions still remain about what’s next for him. According to Luca Evans, USC basketball coach Andy Enfield said that James is “doing very well” at school, going to his classes, and earning “excellent” grades. However, James missed out on the basketball team’s first practice of the season and there hasn’t been an official announcement about his return. Andy Enfield said he couldn't comment on anything medically with Bronny James, but that he was "doing very well," going to class, and has excellent grades. James wasn't at USC men's hoops' first practice of the year today, but Enfield said he's around the team when he can be. — Luca Evans (@bylucaevans) September 26, 2023 E...

Fans React To Latest Mariners Loss

Image
(Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)   The three-way battle between the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, and Seattle Mariners has been one of the most exciting developments of the 2023 MLB season. The three teams have all led the AL West at some point in the last few weeks, and all of them have experienced the fear of coming up empty-handed once all is said and done. After Monday’s games, the Mariners are starting to lag behind the other two AL West powerhouses. Led by an impressive pitching performance by Justin Verlander, the Astros defeated the Mariners in the series opener on Monday. It’s quite likely the most important series of the year for both teams. Had the Mariners won, they would have leapfrogged the Astros for that third and final Wild Card spot in the American League by half a game. Houston came out on top, though, so now the Mariners are a game-and-a-half behind. Mariners fans, predictably and understandably, are starting to feel the fear associated wi...

Jayson Tatum Shares A Message After Making Special Return

Image
(Photo by Megan Briggs/Getty Images)   Jayson Tatum was viewed as one of the brightest young players in the NBA a couple of years ago. Following the impressive 2022 NBA playoff run, Tatum has now become a true superstar in the league. At 25 years old, Tatum already has a lot of postseason experience under his belt and remains a top candidate to win the MVP award in the 2023-24 season. Despite his phenomenal success in the league, Tatum has never forgotten about his roots with the Duke Men’s Basketball team. The Celtics star recently shared pictures of his workout at his college team’s facility via his official Twitter handle. Josh McDaniels Offers An Explanation For Controversial FG Decision

Image
(Photo by Steve Marcus/Getty Images)   The Las Vegas Raiders dropped to 1-2 after a surprising start to the season. They were favored by three points ahead of their home clash vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they were only in the lead for a couple of minutes. They managed to make it a game late in the fourth quarter, scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion to make it an eight-point game. Then, the defense did its job and gave the offense another chance to tie the game, which is why everyone was in disbelief when Josh McDaniels decided to kick a field goal down eight with just 2:22 minutes left in the game. When asked about his decision, McDaniels stated that his team would’ve needed another possession anyway, perhaps failing to realize that he could’ve won the game in overtime, via Around the NFL and NFL.com. Raiders coach Josh McDaniels explains field goal down eight with 2:22 to go in loss to Steelers: "You're going to need another possession anyway"...

Mike McDaniel Makes A Clear Statement On Dolphins Not Breaking NFL Record

Image
(Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty Images)   The Miami Dolphins ‘ offense has been one of the most fun units to watch so far during the 2023 NFL season and they managed to outdo themselves with a beatdown of the Denver Broncos in Week 3. The Dolphins scored 70 points and recorded 726 yards of total offense during the afternoon, showing just how dangerous they can be when everything is clicking on all cylinders. Miami didn’t have Jaylen Waddle available as he was ruled out with a concussion, but that didn’t stop Tua Tagovailoa and the running backs from carving up the sad Denver defense. It truly was one of the most exciting performances from a team during the early part of the season and fans could very well never see another 70-point performance again. The Dolphins actually had a chance to break the NFL’s all-time scoring record by kicking a field goal late in the game, but Mike McDaniels decided to kneel it out instead. When asked about his decision, McDaniels said that he didn...

Justin Jefferson Has Injury Scare In Vikings’ Loss

Image
(Photo by Stephen Maturen/Getty Images)   Things have not gone well for the Minnesota Vikings to start the 2023 NFL season, with the team sitting at 0-3 after Week 3 with consecutive losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Chargers. Coming into Week 3, the Vikings had the tall task of trying to get the best of the Chargers, who are equally as desperate to get a win after losing their first two games of the season. Even though the Vikings were in this game from the second quarter onwards, Los Angeles proved to be the better team in the end, and as a result, Minnesota is now 0-3 on the season. As if being winless three weeks in wasn’t concerning enough for the Vikings, the team had an injury scare, with superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson seemingly getting hurt on this play via Vikings Nation. Fans React To Justin Herbert’s Impressive Performance

Image
(Photo by Stephen Maturen/Getty Images)   After receiving a lot of hype as one of the most talented teams in the league heading into the 2023 NFL season, the Los Angeles Chargers were finally able to get their first win in Week 3, with Justin Herbert and company getting the best of the Minnesota Vikings on the road. The Chargers had a tough start to the season with consecutive losses to the Miami Heat and Tennessee Titans, as Los Angeles lost in Week 1 by two and fell to the Titans in Week 2 by three. Fortunately for the team, Herbert was able to help turn things around in another shootout, with the superstar quarterback putting up some big numbers. According to StatMuse, Herbert threw for 405 yards and three touchdowns with 40 completions on 47 attempts, which is remarkable, to say the least. Fans React To Dolphins Crushing Win Over Broncos

Image
(Photo by Carmen Mandato/Getty Images)   It’s not every day a team gets to make NFL history, but that’s exactly what happened when the Miami Dolphins dominated the Denver Broncos on the road 70-20. Despite being at home and facing a 0-3 start, the Broncos had zero answers for the Dolphins’ offense as they were able to rip off huge play after huge play throughout the afternoon. Tua Tagovailoa hit Tyreek Hill for a big touchdown within the opening minutes of the game and from there the offense exploded thanks to the running back duo of De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert. It was an embarrassing effort from Denver who looked like they gave up at halftime as Russell Wilson and the rest of the offense had no shot of keeping up. When the game was over, the Dolphins managed to rack up 726 yards of total offense, a record for most yards gained in a game. Shortly after, fans took to Twitter to fire off their reactions via SportsCenter. The Dolphins CRUSHED the Broncos in Miami 70...

Broncos Made NFL History During Loss To Dolphins

Image
(Photo by Megan Briggs/Getty Images)   The start of Sean Payton’s tenure with the Denver Broncos has gone about as poorly as one could have imagined. After a tough first two weeks that featured losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and to the Washington Commanders, the Broncos ran into the buzzsaw that is the Miami Dolphins in Week 3. The Dolphins have looked like the best team in the AFC and the largest reason why is their offense because of all the explosive weapons they have. Even without Jaylen Waddle who was ruled out due to a concussion, Miami showed no signs of slowing down as they simply put up big play after big play against Denver. It was a pathetic effort from the Broncos’ defense as they seemed to simply give up when the Dolphins got rolling. Miami wound up taking home an astounding 70-20 victory and Denver would set an unfortunate record in the process via Eric Edholm of NFL.com The Broncos have allowed the most yards in a game in NFL history — 726 and count...

Taylor Swift Makes Surprising Appearance At NFL Game

Image
(Photo by Jason Hanna/Getty Images)   While Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season has already had its fair share of moments, there could be more fireworks in store as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears at home at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs bounced back from their Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions when they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in a tight contest last week. Although it wasn’t the high-scoring affair some predicted, Kansas City did well to move the football in the second half to secure the victory. The Chiefs’ win coincided with Travis Kelce’s return as the tight end was forced to miss Week 1 after he hyper-extended his knee. Kelce scored a touchdown against Jacksonville and is set up well to find the end zone again against a struggling Chicago defense. The All-Pro will also have more motivation to play well as he’s got a special guest in Taylor Swift watching with his family via NFL. . @TaylorSwift13 is here with Donna Kelce (via @NFLonFOX ) pic.twitte...
