The Twins Are Desperate To End A Shocking Drought

The Minnesota Twins have been mostly competitive since the turn of the millennium.

They have nine postseason berths since 2002, which is not bad at all.

As of Wednesday afternoon, they are 69-64 and hold a six-game advantage over the Cleveland Guardians for the AL Central top spot.

In other words, they are likely to make the postseason again.

Despite the relative success they have had in the last two decades or so, they are the MLB team whose last playoff win is the furthest away.

Yes, that’s right: Codify Baseball has the entire list.

So, let’s get some facts straight: the last playoff win by the Twins came in 2004.

Since that year, they have appeared in six different postseasons.

Their win-loss record in those playoffs?

0-15!

It’s hard to believe, yes, but it’s true.

Really talented players came and went, unable to get a postseason win with the Twins.

For reference, the last time the Twins won an October game, they had a young Johan Santana as the ace, and Torii Hunter, Michael Cuddyer, a very young Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau were on the team.

This time, they are in a very good position to advance to the big party again.

Will they be able to exorcise their demons and get their first postseason win in 19 years?
