The New York Mets have witnessed generations of talented ballplayers since their inception back in 1962.

Stars such as Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, David Wright, Mike Piazza, and others have graced the franchise.

Two of those stars will have their numbers retired next year.

Strawberry and Gooden were both key members of the team’s World Series run back in 1986.

That team won 108 regular-season games and rallied from down 3-2 in the Fall Classic against the Boston Red Sox to capture their second World Series title.

On Twitter, the team announced the news of this upcoming ceremony for 2024, posting a graphic featuring the two stars.

A date has not yet been announced for this ceremony.

However, Mets fans will get a chance to witness something beautiful as the team honors two of its franchise cornerstones.

Strawberry made his Major League debut in 1983 and was with the Mets until 1991, when he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After his time with the Dodgers, he won three more World Series rings with the New York Yankees, the Mets’ crosstown rivals.

Strawberry is a former Rookie of the Year and Silver Slugger who was also an eight-time All-Star.

Gooden came up to the big leagues a year after Strawberry at the age of 19.

He pitched with the Mets until 1994.

He was a four-time All-Star and won a Cy Young, a Rookie of the Year Award, a pitching triple crown, and two World Series rings.

Strawberry wore No. 18 with the Mets, while Gooden donned No. 16 during his time with the team.
