Julio Rodriguez Owns An Elite August Mark
Julio Rodriguez, much like the Seattle Mariners as a whole, has been on a roll as of late.
The reigning American League Rookie of the Year is hitting for a .286 average with 24 home runs and 87 RBI.
He has also stolen 35 bases.
However, he owns an elite mark for the month of August.
The Mariners’ young superstar has picked up four or more hits in five games during the month of August.
In doing so, he has joined elite company.
On Twitter, Sarah Langs of MLB.com posted a list of players who had the most four-hit games in a single month, with Rodriguez being tied for second on the list.

The record ultimately belongs to Detroit Tigers legend Ty Cobb, who had six four-hit games in May of 1921.
Everybody else on the list has five four-hit games per month.
After Rodriguez are players such as Zeke Bonura, Lefty O’Doul, Carl Reynolds, Bob Meusel, and George Sisler.
Cobb had five four-hit games in July of 1922.
Rodriguez’s five four-hit games this month are the most in a single month since Bonura accomplished the feat back in 1938.
And while Rodriguez is on this roll, so too are the Mariners, who have come from six games back to rise from third place in the AL West to the top, officially unseating the Texas Rangers with Sunday’s win.
The reigning Rookie of the Year continues to guide the Mariners on their hot stretch, swinging a hot bat and making some very impressive history in the process.
We’ll see if Rodriguez can tie Cobb’s mark or even eclipse it by the end of the month.
