The New York Jets didn’t only get Aaron Rodgers to want to play for them; they also got him to embrace his time there.

Rodgers has looked like a different person ever since he arrived in New York, and he’s making sure to turn the narrative about him around.

He’s been called selfish and self-centered for the way he took care of business with the Green Bay Packers.

Now, he’s done pretty much the opposite with the Jets, agreeing to take a massive pay cut of $30+ million in his restructured deal.

When asked about his reasoning behind that, the multi-time MVP told Peter King (via Dov Kleiman) that it’s all about the big picture.

Rodgers knows that there are multiple stars getting traded nowadays, which is why he wants to make sure the team is in a financial position to get a big deal done if that were to be the case.

That doesn’t seem very selfish.

Rodgers has made it clear that he wants to be with the Jets for the long run, not just a one-and-done kind of thing.

He’s obviously not getting any younger, but he believes in the team’s ability to get the job done and go the distance now with this core of players.

The Jets’ core is up and coming and should keep them in a position to contend for years to come, so it makes plenty of sense for them to think about the big picture and the future, and props to Rodgers for proving the critics wrong in this new endeavor.
