After an inconsistent, injury-riddled season, the Golden State Warriors are moving on to the Western Conference semifinals after a convincing 120-100 road win in Game 7 over the Sacramento Kings.

Stephen Curry has garnered just about all of the attention after scoring 50 points and carrying his team’s offense.

However, big man Kevon Looney was also huge, as he grabbed 21 rebounds, 10 of them off the offensive glass.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr lavished some immense praise on him after the game by saying that he’s one of the best centers in the NBA.

Along with Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, Looney is one of its mainstays that has been around for a while.

Unlike key contributors such as Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole, Looney played on Golden State’s championship teams in 2017 and 2018, and although back then he was a bench player, his game has only grown ever since.

He has become a full-time starter over the last two seasons, and he had a career-best performance in the regular season by averaging 9.3 rebounds a game and shooting 63.0 percent from the field.

Throughout the series against the Kings, Looney came up big, grabbing over 10 rebounds in five games and at least 20 rebounds three times, and he even had nine assists in the Warriors’ Game 3 win.

They will be in for a sizable challenge in the next round, as they will face the surging new-look Los Angeles Lakers, which means Looney will have to guard Anthony Davis, at least for stretches, but it looks like he’s up for that challenge.

Lakers Given Notable Odds To Make NBA Finals
