The Seattle Seahawks just got one of the best talents in the NFL Draft, and the craziest part is that not even they expected him to be available.

Pete Carroll didn’t hesitate to take Ohio State star Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the No. 20 pick, their second in the first round.

Smith-Njigba was the first wide receiver off the board as expected, and NFL analyst Peter Schrager believes he couldn’t have arrived in a more favorable situation.

Schrager explained how Smith-Njigba won’t be asked to produce like a superstar or the best wideout in his class right away because of the Seahawks’ depth.

He raved about their size, joking that their WR room looks like an NBA team.

Schrager adds that Smith-Njigba will only be asked to do his thing and contribute on the slot, with WRs D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett spreading the offense near the sidelines.

More than that, it’s more than evident that the Seahawks have full confidence in Geno Smith going forward.

They could’ve at least tried to get one of the many promising QB prospects, yet they chose to give him another elite weapon instead.

Smith was an early-season MVP candidate last season, and he did manage to lead the team to the playoffs against all odds.

He got paid in the offseason and should have an even better campaign in 2023 with that plethora of talent at his disposal, so don’t sleep on Carroll’s team.
