They drafted Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, along with All-American wide receiver Rome Odunze. The team also traded for six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen and signed 1,000-yard rusher D’Andre Swift. The front office has brought some more ammunition to Pittsburgh this offseason in the form of future Hall-of-Famer Russell Wilson, All-Pro linebacker Patrick Queen, and other important skill players. It seems as though the franchise is determined to bring in another star player in order to convince James to stay a little while longer, as he will almost certainly opt out of his contract with the team next month to either test NBA free agency or re-sign with the team on a lucrative long-term deal. All signs seem to point to the Lakers making a blockbuster trade over the summer to land a player like Trae Young or Donovan Mitchell, but the team could also look to free agency to fill the void with some intriguing options. He set the record for most receptions (105), receiving yards (1,486), and receptions by a rookie in a game (15). With that much time off, it’s natural that there’s some rust he has to knock off, and his rough stretch lately has been tough to watch as he continues to work to get back to the old Edwin Diaz. Diaz blew his second save in his last three opportunities last night after allowing a leadoff home run to Bryson Stott and walking two batters before bringing in the game-tying run on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. Frank Vogel never made the most of their offensive talent, and that’s never been his profile. Nonetheless, he wasn’t the main problem in Phoenix; it was the roster. With that in mind, Stephen A. Smith believes they would be better off moving Kevin Durant. As good a coach as Mike Budenholzer is, the Suns’ roster is poorly constructed, and it seems like Durant hasn’t been happy there for quite a while now. The Mavericks’ dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving has led the way, while role players like P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford have given them a boost on both ends of the floor. After losing Game 1 on the road in Oklahoma City, Dallas stormed back to win Game 2 which set up an epic Game 3 between the two teams. The Thunder looked like they were going to steal back home court, but the Mavericks fought in the second half to hold on and take a 2-1 series lead.
