Paolo Banchero Joined An Elite Club In Magic History

Image
(Photo by Dustin Satloff/Getty Images)   He might not have been playing in a postseason game but Tuesday night was still a good one for Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic. That’s because the NBA announced that Banchero was officially the 2022-23 Rookie of the Year. The former No. 1 overall draft pick had a banner season and now joins the ranks of Magic history. In fact, he is now the third Magic player to win Rookie of the Year, behind Shaquille O’Neal in 1993 and Mike Miller in 2001. From the very start of the year, Banchero was leading his team and showing how smart they were to select him in the draft. And from the very start, Banchero was also a clear favorite to win Rook...

He has traveled from one side of Crypto.com Arena to the other, encountered the angry reaction of millions of fans, and seemingly found his rhythm as the season came to an end. On Tuesday night, he had a message for his supporters following his team’s elimination from the playoffs. “Just thank you. I can’t say enough how appreciative I am of people that support me through ups and down, and understanding that I’m human like anybody else,” Westbrook told the press on Tuesday night. I asked Russell Westbrook for his message to his fans: “Man, just thank you. I can’t say enough how appreciative I am of people that support me through ups and down, and understanding t...

Stephen A. Smith Has A Message For The Clippers’ Owner

Image
(Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images)   Kawhi Leonard’s tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers has been a failure. He’s never been healthy to finish the season, and it’s evident that his issues are chronic and more serious than we realize. That’s why Stephen A. Smith believes Steve Ballmer and the organization should just force him to retire, as he’s never going to be healthy. Regardless of the reasons behind his struggles, Leonard can’t seem to shake off those woes, and he’s even limping when he walks. It’s a shame to see such a talented and impactful two-way player walk away like this, but it doesn’t seem like he has many more options. He’s keeping the Clippers hostage with tha...

NBA Analyst Says 1 Player Is ‘On Another Planet’

Image
(Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)   The Phoenix Suns have one of the hottest scorers in the league right now, and we’re not talking about Kevin Durant. Devin Booker has been on a tear over the past couple of games, and he single-handedly orchestrated a comeback to close out the Los Angeles Clippers in just five games. Booker showcased his entire offensive repertoire with a majestic 25-point third quarter, finishing the night with 47 on 19/27 from the floor. That’s why former NBA player Tim Legler believes he’s just on a whole different level right now. "Devin Booker's on another planet. … This guy's been putting up numbers since the day he got in the league. I've never seen him like this." — @LegsESPN pic.twitter.com/C6bmnTNTaA — Get Up (@GetUpESPN) April 26, 2023 Legler raved about how hungry Booker is and how much he’s making the most of every single touch he has now that he’s gotten more space to operate with Durant by his side. Of course, ...

Top Orioles Prospect Continues His Rise Through The Minors

Image
(Photo by Winslow Townson/Getty Images)   The up-and-coming Baltimore Orioles have the second-best record in the American League, at 15-7. They look like they have been contending for a long time, but no. They haven’t made the postseason since 2016, and it wasn’t until last year when they finally showed some progress at 83-79. They were so bad in 2021 (52-110), that they had last year’s first overall pick in the MLB Draft. They turned that selection into middle infielder Jackson Holliday. Prospect evaluators saw Holliday as a special player, a sweet-swinging shortstop with above-average feel for contact and developing power. He started to leave his mark last year. First, he had a 1.167 OPS in eight games in the Florida Complex League. He was then promoted to Class-A, where he posted a solid .772 OPS for a 18-year-old rookie. He looks like he took a step forward this year, with a .392/.523/.667 line, two homers and a 1.190 OPS in 13 games and 65 plate appearances in Cl...

Yankees Fan Perfectly Sums Up Latest Tough Loss

Image
(Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images)   Monday night was a tough night to be a fan of the New York Yankees . The team opened up a series against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field and struggled to get their offense going, as they were dominated by an old friend in right-hander Sonny Gray, who pitched seven scoreless innings. New York fell by a final of 6-1. Needless to say, Yankees fans weren’t terribly happy with the way the team performed in their series opener against the Twins. With the Yankees down 4-0 in the top of the sixth, cameras on the YES broadcast panned over to Nestor Cortes, who sat on the bench with a disappointed look on his face. On Twitter, a fan posted a screenshot of the moment when cameras focused on a frustrated Cortes. Every Yankee fan pic.twitter.com/JDbD0onQFL — gabe (@PlayoffTanaka_) April 25, 2023 Perhaps the look on Cortes’ face sums up how Yankees fans were feeling on Monday night as they failed to get anything going against Gray. A...

The Giants Made Sure To Show Off Alex Cobb’s Complete Game

Image
(Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)   The San Francisco Giants came into Monday’s series opener against the struggling St. Louis Cardinals with a record of 8-13. San Francisco is fortunately close to first place in the NL West, but they have not performed well for much of the season. However, if they plan on turning things around, Alex Cobb’s complete-game shutout against St. Louis was a good place to start. The veteran right-hander allowed just six hits and one walk and struck out four Cardinals hitters to deliver a much-needed win for the Giants. On Twitter, the Giants posted a video featuring highlights from Cobb’s complete game. Alex put on a show last night #SFGiants x @budweiserusa pic.twitter.com/W4hyvMhsnY — SFGiants (@SFGiants) April 25, 2023 While the Cardinals did not have Nolan Arenado in their lineup on Monday, Cobb still had to deal with the likes of Paul Goldschmidt and Willson Contreras. The 35-year-old never flinched and took it straight to the Car...
